Cancer survival is thought to closed linked to the genimic constitution of the tumour. Discovering such signatures will be useful in the diagnosis of the patient and may be used for treatment decisions and perhaps even the development of new treatments. However, genomic data are typically noisy and high-dimensional, often outstripping the number included in the study. Regularized survival models have been proposed to deal with such scenary. These methods typically induce sparsity by means of a coincidental match of the geometry of the convex likelihood and (near) non-convex regularizer.

dglars is a public available R package that implements the method proposed in Augugliaro, Mineo and Wit (2013) developed to study the sparse structure of a generalized linear model. This method, called dgLARS, is based on a differential geometrical extension of the least angle regression method (LARS). The core of the dglars package consists of two algorithms implemented in Fortran 90 to efficiently compute the solution curve; specifically a predictor-corrector algorithm and a cyclic coordinate descent algorithm.

The success or failure of human collective action often depends on the cooperation tendencies of individuals in groups, and on the information that individuals have about each other's cooperativeness. However, it is unclear whether these two factors have an interactive effect on cooperation dynamics. Using a decision-making experiment, we confirm that groups comprising individuals with higher cooperation tendencies cooperate at a higher level than groups comprising individuals with low cooperation tendencies. In contrast, implicit measures assess introspectively inaccessible processes that operate outside of awareness. While women consistently yield higher scores on explicit anxiety measures, there are to date no studies available that examine gender differences in implicit anxiety measures. The aim of the study is to determine the consistency of the desired colour reproduction of the stimuli using calibrated printing technology available to anyone (EpsonStylus Pro 7800 printer was). 24 colour vision assessment plates created in the University of Latvia were analysed right after their fabrication on august 2012 and after intense use for 7 months (colour vision screening on 700 people).
