Quantitative Characteristics of Information Society and ICT Industry in Latvia

Abstract The article is devoted to statistical analysis of information and communication technology (ICT) industry in Latvia and the development of Information Society in the country. On the basis of statistical data comparison of Latvia with other European countries is made. This comparison shows that Latvia belongs to countries with very well developed Internet. On the other hand the statistical data points on the fact that it is necessary to increase the awareness of population regarding possibilities offered by using of ICT and e-Government.

The new Europe 2020 Strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth has identified innovation as one of the core drivers that can get European countries out of the current economic crisis. The Europe 2020 Strategy sets a 3% of the EU’s GDP to be invested in RD the statistics database of the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia; Eurostat and other international statistical and methodological materials. Certainly, basketball data are scientifically relevant because an appropriate analysis provides a great deal of information about the performance of both players and teams. The Italian Hydrographic Service publishes yearly maximum rainfall depths with 1-, 3-, 6-, 12-, and 24-hr duration, recorded by recording rain gauges. It also publishes selected short-duration (t<1 hr) rainfall amounts. It is impossible to carry out a statistical analysis of the short-duration rainfalls for each recording rain gauge because the published data correspond to different record durations and to different recording rain gauges from year to year.
