ActRec: A Wi-Fi-Based Human Activity Recognition System

In this paper, we develop a Wi-Fi-based activity recognition system called ActRec, which can be used for the remote monitoring of elderly. ActRec comprises two parts: radio-frequency (RF) sensing and machine learning. In the RF sensing part, two laptops act as transmitter and receiver to record the channel transfer function of an indoor environment. This RF data is collected in the presence of seven human participants performing three activities: walking, falling, and sitting. The aim of this study was to examine psychometric properties of the Life Orientation Test-Revised (LOT-R).The LOT-R was administered in five clinical samples, three samples of the adult general population, and one sample of adolescents. Seven of the studies were performed in Germany and two in Colombia. All of the sample sizes were above 300.Cronbach's alpha coefficients were between .57 and .75 for the eight adult samples, the correlations between the scales optimism and pessimism ranged from -.05 to -.37, and the coefficients of temporal stability (test-retest correlations) of the scales ranged from .43 to .69. Sister-chromatid exchange in cultured lymphocytes of ewes and their newborn lambs

The incidence of sister-chromatid exchange (SCE) in cultured lymphocytes of ewes and their newborn lambs was determined using the BrdU-Giemsa technique. In all ewe-lamb pairs, the SCE rate in the lambs was less than that of the ewes. The mean SCE frequencies per chromosome of the ewes after lambing and of the newborn lambs were 0.1909 and 0.1581, respectively. The statistical analysis shows that a significant difference exists between SCE in the adult female sheep and their lambs. At the same time, a negative correlation was observed between SCE rate and cell proliferation. The results of this study are compared with those of previous reports on age-dependency of SCE.
