Transnational ties: Resource or stressor on Peruvian migrants' well‐being?

This paper explores the role of types and the intensity of transnational ties for migrants' well‐being from a global perspective. Based on a literature review, two competing hypotheses are formulated—transnational resources versus transnational stress—according to which transnational ties have either a positive or a negative effect on migrants' well‐being. Impacts des réseaux viaires sur les mobilités urbaines : quelques illustrations

This research aims to find the impact of the network shape and structure on the urban mobilities, in order to fight against the automobile dependency and to include the externalities in the network design. Three examples illustrate this objective. The first one shows the influence of the network shape on the pedestrian urban flows. The second one emphasizes how sensitive to the network structure is the efficiency of a very flexible Demand Responsive Transport. The third example demonstrates that the network metric is favourable to the automobile and how it can be possible to apply an alternative metric, called the “slow metric” to reduce the urban sprawling and the automobile dependency.

Summary: Chromatin organization plays a crucial role in tissue homeostasis. Heterochromatin relaxation and consequent unscheduled mobilization of transposable elements (TEs) are emerging as key contributors of aging and aging-related pathologies, including Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and cancer. However, the mechanisms governing heterochromatin maintenance or its relaxation in pathological conditions remain poorly understood. Here we show that PIN1, the only phosphorylation-specific cis/trans prolyl isomerase, whose loss is associated with premature aging and AD, is essential to preserve heterochromatin. Pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot saistību starp trauksmi, stresa pārvarēšanas stratēģijam un fiziskām aktivitātēm. Pētījumā piedalījās 113 respondenti vecumā no 18 līdz 76 gadiem. Trauksmes līmeņa mērīšanai tika izmantota Spīlbergera „Trauksmes stāvokļa-iezīmes aptauja” (State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), Spilberger, 1983). Latvijā to adaptējusi Daina Škuškovnika, 2004. Stresa pārvarēšanas stratēģiju noteikšanai tika izmantota „Stresa pārvarēšanas stratēģiju aptauja” (The Coping Orientation of Problem Experience (COPE Inventory), Carver, Scheier & Weintraub, 1989). Pētījuma mērķis bija noskaidrot, vai pastāv saistība starp kompulsīvo ēšanu, emocionālo ēšanu, emociju regulācijas grūtībām un trauksmes rādītājiem sievietēm. Pētījumā piedalījušās 135 sievietes vecumā no 17 līdz 65 gadiem, internetā anonīmi aizpildot aptauju, kurā bija iekļauta Kompulsīvās ēšanas aptauja (The Compulsive Eating Scale (CES), Kagan & Squires, 1984), Emocionālās ēšanas aptauja (Emotional Eating Scale (EES); Arnow, Kenardy, & Agras, 1995), aptauja emociju regulācijas grūtību noteikšanai (Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale DERS, Gratz & Roemer, 2004), un Distresa tolerances aptauja (Distress Tolerance Scale (DTS; Simons and Gaher 2005). Differences Between Coronavirus-Related Anxiety and Stress Management Strategies in Different Study Programs for Students

Šī bakalaura darba pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt atšķirības koronovīrusa izraisītās trauksmes rādītājos un stresa pārvarēšanas stratēģijas, psiholoģijas, audiovizuālās mākslas un “deju kolektīva vadītājs” specialitāšu studentiem COVID-19 pandēmijas laikā. Pētījumā piedalījās 89 respondenti no tiem 58 sieviete un 31 vīrieši (65% sievietes, 35% vīrieši), vecumā no 19 līdz 41 gadiem. Izlases visbiežāk sastopamais vecums ir 23 gadi (26%). Pētījumā piedalījās psiholoģijas (23 studenti jeb 26%), audiovizuālās mākslas (28 studenti jeb 31%) un “deju kolektīva vadītājs” (38 studenti jeb 43%) specialitāšu studenti. A hard day's night : the aftermath of psychological trauma in Grey's Anatomy

Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli tunnistaa ja kuvata tapoja, joilla fiktiiviset henkilöhahmot amerikkalaisessa sairaalasarjassa Greyn Anatomia reagoivat psykologisesti traumaattisiin kokemuksiin, sekä sitä, millainen rooli hahmojen keskinäisellä ystävyyssuhteella on parantumisprosessissa. Analyysin kohteena oli sarjan kaksi keskeistä henkilöhahmoa, Meredith Grey sekä Cristina Yang. Aineisto koostui kahdesta erillisestä tarinakaaresta: molemmat alkoivat traumaattisesta tapahtumasta ja loppuivat molempien hahmojen ns. löydettyä ratkaisun trauman aiheuttamiin ongelmiinsa.
