Interactive Learning Environments (ILEs) as Effective Tools for Teaching Social Sciences

Schoolteachers could enhance learning in social science courses by using teaching tools that favour a methodological approach focused on the topics' basic structure rather than on facts. An innovative system dynamics social-based ILE built with a social constructivist approach is presented here. The pedagogical futures of this ILE are then analysed. The effective impact of different instructional approaches inspired by social-based ILEs on student learning outcomes is also discussed. Dynamic representations (e.g., dynamic geometry software GeoGebra for mathematics learning and PhET simulations for science learning) offer excellent opportunities for students to conduct investigations and to formulate explanations for the visualized phenomena. In order for this to be effective, students need guidance, for example, for planning their investigations and reflecting on their actions. Topical Depth and Writing Quality in Student EFL Compositions

ABSTRACT This study tests a method to describe the relationship between coherence and writing quality by using topical structure analysis. Originally the method was used to examine short professional texts written in the mother tongue (L1) but in the present study it is applied to short compositions written in English by students learning this foreign language (EFL). The analyses showed that what characterized good writers was the ability to develop the topics in their compositions more evenly across several topic levels than mid‐quality writers and especially the poor writers. Attitudes toward technological resources in the classroom of the future teachers

The aim of this study is to analyze attitudes future teachers towards technological resources in the classroom. We have considered three dimensions for analysis, the practice in the classroom, student learning and the valuation that future teachers as make their own attitude technological resources. For the statistical analysis used descriptive techniques; t test for comparison of independent groups, and univariate analysis of covariance (ANOVA). The results indicate that attitudes is positive, but we can see that there are some significant differences in gender respects to some of the issues raised.

We report the characterization of university teachers’ PCK on mitosisemploying the Content Representation questionnaire (CoRe) and Professional and Pedagogicalexperience Repertoire (PaP-eR).
