The rise of modern socio-digital technologies has fundamentally changed the everyday environments in which young people communicate with each other and cultivate interests. To gain a more sophisticated understanding of this phenomenon, this study provides in-depth, qualitative insights into adolescents’ experiences of their socio-digital developmental ecologies. Bakalaura darbā “Augstākās izglītības internacionalizācija: ārvalstu studenti Latvijā” tiek aplūkoti internacionalizācijas procesi augstākās izglītības nozarē Latvijā un pētīti ārvalstu studentu motīvi studijām Latvijā, viņu līdzšinējā pieredze un nākotnes plāni. Pētījumā pielietota kvantitatīvā datu ieguves metode – aptauja, kuras rezultāti ļauj spriest par galvenajām tendencēm internacionalizācijas procesiem Latvijā. Darbā tika pētītas atšķirības dažādu grupu starpā, izceļot valstis, no kurām nācis lielākais respondentu skaits – Indiju un Vāciju, salīdzinot tās savā starpā, kā arī ar studentiem no citām valstīm. Summary This study is focused on exploration of experience of cultural transition that has lived a group of international students (European and not European) host at an Italian University during particular experiential segment marking the transition from their culture of belonging to the new social and cultural context. Everyday Listening to Music and Emotion Among College Students

This study attempted to reveal the relationship between everyday listening to music and emotion among col-lege students. Participants were 13 female and 2 male college students who were given booklets to record the following over an 8-day period: dates and times of their everyday experiences of listening to music, duration of listening, locations and contexts of listening, active or passive listening, emotions before and after listening, and tiles and artists to which they listened. Results indicated that the participants listened to music for 5 to 30 minutes while driving or riding in a car. Assessment is viewed as an internal and pivotal part of learning, where cultural factors, previous experiences, and future aspirations affect learners’ perceptions. In recent years, an increasing number of western universities have established their campuses or “dual” programmes in China. In the first Sino–Finnish programme, 293 Finnish and Chinese students participated in the same English for Specific Purposes (ESP) course. Student experiences of critical multilingual and intercultural communication competence assessment in higher education

In this chapter, we present multilingual and intercultural communication competence (MICC) as a situational and contextual process. The aim of this qualitative, empirical study is to understand the students’ perceptions of assessing MICC as a holistic phenomenon that does not represent an ethnocentric world view and considers the role of language use in interaction. We look at assessing MICC as a process of giving and receiving feedback rather than as a summative assessment. The data consist of 74 texts on assessments written by university students.
