To compare cognitive processes adopted by students with different cultures in solving mathematical problems we have to focus on the Math epistemology through a cultural analysis concerning the fundamental elements of the students different cultural traditions and the philosophical, logic and linguistic bases subtended to the mathematical thought and its historical evolution. The paper describes this theoretical framework, emphasizing a possible comparison between different cognitive styles and mathematical problem solutions in the context of arithmetic and Algebraic thought of Italian and Chinese students in multicultural classes.

The article tries to highlight, despite the scarse of available documentation, the Greek and Latin studies (language and texts) in the ancient Apulian University in Altamura (1748-1821). Furthermore, on the basis of unpublished archival materials (school registers and student workbooks) it is possible to shed light on the ancient authors explained at school, the teaching methods, and the study practices.

Bakalaura darba tēma ir “Nepilna laika nodarbinātība Latvijā: studentu perspektīva”. Eiropas Savienības dalībvalstīs liela nozīme tiek piešėirta jauniešu bezdarba samazināšanai. Lai arī nepilna laika nodarbinātība Latvijā ir maz izplatīta, tā ir pieprasīta studējošu jauniešu vidū. Pētījuma mērėis ir noskaidrot studējošu jauniešu pieĦemtās prakses un to vērtējumu, apvienojot pilna laika studijas ar nepilna laika nodarbinātību Latvijā. Pētījuma rezultāti tiek skatīti darba, izglītības un citu dzīves jomu saskaĦošanas kontekstā. Bakalaura darbs satur 44 lappuses, 1 pielikumu, tā sagatavošanā izmantoti 28 literatūras un informācijas avoti.

Bakalaura darba nosaukums ir “Latvijas Universitātes ārvalstu apmaiņas studentu motivācija un pieredze”. Tā mērķis ir noskaidrot Latvijas Universitātes ārvalstu apmaiņas studentu motivāciju un pieredzi, izvēloties studēt Latvijā un Latvijas Universitātē. Darbā tiek aplūkota ekspektāciju-vērtības teorija, starpkultūru komunikācija un iepriekš veiktie pētījumi par apmaiņas studentu motivāciju un pieredzi. Darbā tika analizētas Latvijas Universitātes ārvalstu apmaiņas studentu aptaujas anketas (n=61) un 10 intervijas ar Latvijas Universitātes ārvalstu apmaiņas studentiem. Student academic underachievement is a concern of paramount importance in Europe, where around 15% of the students in the last high school courses do not achieve the minimum knowledge academic requirement. In this paper, we propose a model based on a system of differential equations to study the dynamics of the students academic performance in the German region of North Rhine-Westphalia. This approach is supported by the idea that both, good and bad study habits, are a mixture of personal decisions and influence of classmates. This model allows us to forecast the student academic performance by means of confidence intervals over the next few years.
