These units treat patients with serious medical conditions with an immediate life-threatening risk in an emergency situation. W artykule podjęto próbę teologicznej oceny klasycznych modeli racjonalizacji cierpienia i zła. Należą do nich: harmonizacja i estetyzacja, ontologiczna depotencjacja, umoralizowanie oraz pedagogizacja zła. Autor dochodzi do wniosku, iż żaden z nich nie daje wystarczającej odpowiedzi na bolesne pytanie: Dlaczego Bóg dopuszcza zło? Niemniej jednak każdy z wymienionych modeli zawiera elementy, które z powodzeniem mogą być wykorzystane we współczesnym dyskursie teodycealnym. Répondant à un mandat médical particulier — soigner sans guérir —, les professionnels de soins palliatifs font d’une partie du « sale boulot » hospitalier leur cœur de métier. Dans l’incapacité d’y faire face seuls mais aussi pour lutter contre la souffrance au travail, les médecins attendent des personnels paramédicaux qu’ils participent à l’élaboration du soin à travers des réunions pluridisciplinaires nommées « staff ». Cette participation modifie la division du travail habituellement en vigueur à l’hôpital, et entraîne des « charges de la participation » supplémentaires pour les paramédicaux.
