Sejas un žokļu traumas Paula Stradiņa Klīniskajā Universitātes slimnīcā
2020
Prevalence of impacted premolars in a Turkish population and considerations for surgical treatment
2010
Objective: The aim of this study was to identify the prevalence, associated pathology and symptoms, and treatment of impacted premolars in a Turkish population. Study Design: This retrospective study examined panoramic radiographs and clinical records of 9,000 patients who presented consecutively at our oral and maxillofacial surgery clinics between January 1998 and January 2009. In addition to demographic data (patient sex and age), data was compiled on the number and location of impacted missing maxillary and mandibular premolars, retained deciduous molars, associated pathologies and symptoms, and treatment methods. Results: A total of 105 impacted maxillary or mandibular premolars were o…
Treatment of apicomarginal defect with periapical surgery: A case report
2020
An apicomarginal defect can be explained as a total loss of buccal alveolus extending from the original crestal bone to the apex of the tooth. This study presents a case of an apicomarginal defect in a first left molar subjected to periapical surgery with vestibular cortex block replacement and A-PRF + membrane coating approximately one year ago. One-year clinical follow-up was performed, with no evidence of recurrence. This case report discusses periapical surgical treatment and the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to the management of teeth with apicomarginal defects. Key words:Periapical surgery, apicomarginal defect, A-PRF+, bone graft.
Nonsurgical treatment of an adult with skeletal Class III malocclusion, anterior crossbite, and an impacted canine
2021
Class III malocclusion presents some complexity in terms of diagnosis and treatment and affects not only the jaws but the whole craniofacial complex. Besides, functional forward displacement of the mandible may be diagnosed in a patient presenting Class III malocclusion, as the 2 entities are not incompatible or mutually exclusive. This case report describes the multidisciplinary, nonsurgical, orthodontic treatment of an adult patient with a skeletal Class III malocclusion, anterior crossbite, and a palatally impacted canine, treated with fixed appliances and skeletal anchorage. To upright the mandibular molars, distalize the whole mandibular arch, and avoid excessive inclination of maxilla…
Application of T-Thesys Therapy in post-operative recovery in knee-surgical interventions: A case study
2020
T-Thesys therapy is an innovative treatment that can be used even in the presence of recent injuries. For this reason, we studied the T-Thesys use in the post-operative phase of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction of the knee. For our study, we selected 51 patients for ACL surgery, and we divided participants in two groups: the Experimental Group (EG) and the Control Group (CG). The EG consisted of 34 patients (age: 26.9 ± 7.65 years) who underwent T-Thesys therapy after surgery, while the CG included 17 patients (age: 26.7 ± 6.8 years) who was not subjected to T-Thesys therapy after surgery. T-Thesys therapy was performed on a daily basis and participants' parameters were m…
KRAS and BRAF as prognostic biomarkers in patients undergoing surgical resection of colorectal cancer liver metastasis: A systematic review and meta-…
2016
3565Background: Clinical trials investigated the potential role of both KRAS and BRAF mutations, as prognostic biomarkers, in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients who underwent surgical treatment of li...
Intratumoral PO2 Histography as Predictive Assay in Advanced Cancer of the Uterine Cervix
1994
Experimental evidence suggests that the hypoxic fraction in a solid tumor may increase its malignant potential and reduce its sensitivity towards nonsurgical treatment modalities such as standard irradiation and certain anticancer agents1–5. However, the clinical importance of tumor hypoxia remains uncertain since valid methods for the routine measurement of intratumoral O2-tensions in patients have so far been lacking.
Surgical Treatment on Subungual Osteochondromas in Paediatric Feet: A Case Series Study
2020
Subungual osteochondroma (SO) is an infrequent and non-malignant bone tumour of the distal phalanx, especially prominent in paediatric populations. The aim of this research was to describe a case series of paediatric feet with SO which received surgical treatments. The secondary purpose was to compare these descriptive data by sex distribution. Methods: Twenty-three paediatric feet with SO confirmed by clinical or radiological features received surgical treatment. Socio-demographic (age, sex, height, weight and BMI) and clinical features (side, location, tumour or pain presence, and nail lift before surgery, as well as recurrence and adverse effects at one month after intervention) were rep…
Changes of Oxygen Supply to the Tissue Following Intravenous Application of Anesthetic Drugs
1973
The main function of the clinical anesthiologist is to make surgical treatment painless for the patient. For this purpose he uses drugs that severely interfere with the regulation of oxygen supply to the tissue. The same problem exists for the scientists working on animal experiments where he has to decide whether his experimental results were not changed by the anesthiological treatment.

2018
the aim of this study was to evaluate efficacy and safety of ozone insufflation/injection in conservative surgical approaches of oNJ in two cancer patients.
