In this article, our focus is on sustainable development in mathematics education from the point of view of teacher training. The aim was to develop prospective teachers’ content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge of school mathematics. As a case study, we chose the mathematical symbol “a/b”, and examined how prospective class teachers in Finland connect it to the concepts of fraction, ratio, division, rational number or probability. Onomastic literacy (the skills needed to interpret the cultural and social phenomena and meanings related to name-giving) are part of a person’s cultural capital. I use this concept, which I have developed, to study personal names in family networks and in royal families in particular. This research combines the approaches and methodologies of collective biography, microhistory and the history of mentalities. We consider nonlinear elliptic Dirichlet problems driven by the sum of a p-Laplacian and a Laplacian (a (p,2) -equation). The reaction term at ±∞ is resonant with respect to any variational eigenvalue of the p-Laplacian. We prove two multiplicity theorems for such equations.

Tutkin työssäni Eeva-Liisa Mannerin näytelmää Poltettu Oranssi (1968) parenteesien kautta. Työni tavoite on osoittaa parenteesien kommunikoiva luonne kyseisessä näytelmässä keskittyen näytelmän kolmeen tapahtumapaikkaan sekä tutkia parenteesien verhoamaa symboliikkaa teok-sessa. Tutkin näytelmän parenteeseja kolmesta eri näkökulmasta: narratiivisesta, symbolisesta ja psy-koanalyyttisesta. Psykoanalyyttisen tutkimuksen ja symbolisen ohella sivuan myös värien ja unien tulkinnan teorioita.
