TCP Performance in Mobile Ad hoc Networks

International audience; In this paper, we present a survey of TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) protocol for better performance in the MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc Network). After a short presentation of the main features of TCP, we give the most important problems from which TCP suffer in MANET. We present after that some approaches proposed in the literature in order to improve its performance. Our paper contains also a performance evaluation of TCP NewReno and TCP Vegas transport protocols under AODV and DSR routing protocols. The simulations are conducted under varying conditions of number of TCP connections, number of nodes and mobility.

Prediction of CRT Activation Sequence by Personalization of Biventricular Models from Electroanatomical Maps

Synchronized gradient elution in capillary liquid chromatography

Abstract The synchronization of injection valve operation and gradient elution in capillary liquid chromatography (cHPLC) is studied. Focus is placed on the cHPLC systems which rely on the splitting of a primary flow to provide the much smaller secondary flow required at the injection device and analytical column. Owing to the tiny secondary flow rates, synchronization is necessary to achieve proper optimization of gradient elution methods. This article reports an empirical investigation into the characteristics of conductors' temporal gestures and people's ability to synchronize with them. It describes a new approach to the investigation of the characteristics of conductors' gestures, the investigation of conductor—musician synchronization, and a first experiment to demonstrate the feasibility of the approach. Adaptive time window linear regression algorithm for accurate time synchronization in wireless sensor networks

In this article we propose a new algorithm for time synchronization in wireless sensor networks. The algorithm is based on linear regression to achieve long-term synchronization between the clocks of different network motes. Since motes are built using low-cost hardware components, usually their internal local clocks are not very accurate. In addition, there are other effects that affect the clock precision, such as: environmental conditions, supply voltage, aging, manufacturing process. A Measure of Concurrent Neural Firing Activity Based on Mutual Information

Multiple methods have been developed in an attempt to quantify stimulus-induced neural coordination and to understand internal coordination of neuronal responses by examining the synchronization phenomena in neural discharge patterns. In this work we propose a novel approach to estimate the degree of concomitant firing between two neural units, based on a modified form of mutual information (MI) applied to a two-state representation of the firing activity.
