Energetic study of bifurcated hydrogen bonds in secondary structures of salts composed with dicarboxylic acids and ethylamine

2020

Abstract The nature of bifurcated hydrogen bonds prompted us to analyze the energy of supramolecular motifs on the example of new structures of carboxylic acids salts with amines, which guarantee a multitude of such interactions. Experimental and theoretical studies of four dicarboxylic salts with primary amine: ethylammonium succinate hydrate (1), tartrate hydrate (2) phthalate hydrate (3) and terephthalate (4) has been investigated along with study of the strength of interactions between the anions and cations. The complete topological analysis of the charge density for all new structures allowed designation of the estimated Cumulative Dissociation Energy (eCDE).

Extending the halogen-bonded supramolecular synthon concept to 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives

2016

A series of five crystal structures of 1:1 halogen-bonded complexes were obtained from 4-[5-(4-alkoxyphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-yl]pyridine and 1,3,5-trifluorotriiodobenzene. Electronic structure calculations show that the N(oxadiazole)⋯I interaction in the new synthon is as strong as the classic N(pyridine)⋯I interaction. Oxygen to sulfur atom subsitution on the oxadiazole ring results in a different supramolecular packing where the N(pyridine)⋯I interaction is favored, which could be rationalized by the changes in the molecular electrostatic potential predicted from the theoretical calculations.

Stereoselective anti aldol reactions of erythrulose derivatives. Functionalized chiral d3 and d4 synthons.

2004

An improved procedure for the synthesis of anti aldols from protected erythrulose derivatives is reported. The preparation of functionalized d3 and d4 synthons with various stereochemical arrays by means of this methodology is described and subsequently applied to a stereoselective formal synthesis of the natural metabolite goniothalesdiol.

General Diastereoselective Synthetic Approach toward Isospongian Diterpenes. Synthesis of (−)-Marginatafuran, (−)-Marginatone, and (−)-20-Acetoxymarg…

2012

This work describes a synthetic approach to the carbocyclic skeleton of isospongian diterpenes that uses the commercially available monoterpene (S)-carvone as a C-ring synthon, which is incorporated into the tetracyclic isospongian framework via a C -> ABC -> ABCD ring annulation strategy using intramolecular Diels-Alder and ring-closing metathesis reactions. This approach has been successfully used to prepare both the title natural isospongians and several nonnatural oxygenated analogues. A preliminary evaluation of the inhibitory activity of the small collection of synthesized isospongians on the mammalian mitochondrial respiratory chain revealed that most were able to inhibit the integra…

ChemInform Abstract: Enantioselective Synthesis of Herbertane Sesquiterpenes: Synthesis of (-)-α-Formylherbertenol.

2010

Abstract The synthesis of 4-hydroxy-3-[(1 S )-1,2,2-trimethylcyclopentyl]benzaldehyde [(−)-α-formylherbertenol 1 ], a herbertane-type sesquiterpene isolated from the leafy liverwort Herberta adunca , from β-cyclogeraniol is described. The synthesis is based on the previously described preparation of an enantiopure 1,2,2-trimethylcyclopentane synthon from which the characteristic aromatic moiety of 1 is elaborated, using a Robinson annulation and a palladium-catalysed methoxycarbonylation of an aryl triflate as key synthetic steps. The synthesis of the natural sesquiterpene (−)-α-herbertenol, also a natural sequiterpene, using the same methodology is also described.

Separation and purification of no-carrier-added arsenic from bulk amounts of germanium for use in radiopharmaceutical labelling

2010

AbstractRadioarsenic labelled radiopharmaceuticals could add special features to molecular imaging with positron emission tomography (PET). For example the long physical half-lives of72As (T1/2=26 h) and74As (T1/2=17.8 d) in conjunction with their high positron branching rates of 88% and 29%, respectively, allow the investigation of slow physiological or metabolical processes, like the enrichment and biodistribution of monoclonal antibodies in tumour tissue or the characterization of stem cell trafficking. A method for separation and purification of no-carrier-added (nca) arsenic from irradiated metallic germanium targets based on distillation and anion exchange is developed. It finally con…

High yield synthesis of trinuclear [M3S4X3(diphos)3]+ (M=Mo, W; X=Cl, Br and diphos=dmpe, dppe) molecular clusters from solid state materials. Synthe…

2001

The excision of polymeric {M 3 S 7 X 4 } x (M=Mo, W; X=Cl, Br) cluster phases with diphosphines (dmpe, dppe) in acetonitrile affords a one step general synthetic route for the preparation of trinuclear molecular clusters with formula [M 3 S 4 X 3 (diphos) 3 ] + (M=Mo, W; X=Cl, Br and diphos=dmpe, dppe) in high yields. Following this strategy, the cluster cations [Mo 3 S 4 Br 3 (dmpe) 3 ] + and [W 3 S 4 Br 3 (dppe) 3 ] + have been prepared for the first time. This last tungsten cluster has proved to be a useful synthon for the synthesis of the hydride derivative [W 3 S 4 H 3 (dppe) 3 ] + in moderate yields. The crystal structure of [W 3 S 4 H 3 (dppe) 3 ](BPh 4 ) consists of a equilateral tu…

Synthesis of quadruped-shaped polyfunctionalized o-carborane synthons

2011

[EN] o-Carborane derivatives with precisely defined patterns of substitution have been prepared from 8,9,10,12-I-4-1,2-closo-C2B10H8 by replacing the iodine atoms, bonded to four adjacent boron vertices in the cluster, with allyl, and subsequently 3-hydroxypropyl groups. The resulting structures, comprising four pendant arms and two reactive vertices located on opposite sides of a central o-carborane core, can be envisaged as versatile precursors for dendritic growth

18F-labeling of peptides by means of an organosilicon-based fluoride acceptor.

2006

Fluorine-18 is among the most commonly used radionuclides for positron emission tomography (PET). This non-invasive imaging technique is capable of providing in vivo information about the distribution of radiolabeled biomolecules by 1808 coincidence detection of two simultaneously emitted photons from positron–electron annihilation. Although a number of different radiotracers have been successfully employed in PET, only a few, such as 2-[F]fluoro-2-deoxy-d-glucose (FDG) and [F]fluorodopa, have gained widespread application in nuclear medicine. The reason for this is that the regioselective introduction of F into tracer molecules is often non-specific and radiochemical yields (RCY) of the Fl…
