Extended Horizon Adaptive Model Algorithmic Control

Abstract A new, original, robust adaptive control strategy termed Extended Horizon Adaptive Model Algorithmic Control is presented. In EHAMAC, a new, combined, ’single-loop’/’cascade’ adaptive least-squares parameter estimator is coupled with a new, simple but powerful Extended Horizon Model Algorithmic Control so that open-loop stable non-minimum phase systems can be effectively controlled in the time-varying environment. In the new, cascade structure of the ALS estimator, the covariance windup and blowup are totally eliminated. Adaptive estimation of Laguerre models with time-varying delay

Abstract An Orthonormal Basis Functions (OBF) approach is effectively used in adaptive parameter estimation of linear(ized) open-loop stable, possibly nonminimum phase plants with time-varying delay. In particular, discrete Laguerre models are considered in detail. A special attention is paid to the numerical conditioning issue in case of ’poor’ excitation of a plant under control, where OBF models are of particular value. Closed-loop predictive control simulations confirm the usefulness of adaptive OBF modelling, especially for systems with time-varying delays.
Robust adaptive algorithm with low computational cost

An adaptive algorithm, which is robust to impulsive noise, is proposed. The cost function underlying this algorithm contains a parameter that controls the immunity to impulsive noise and can be easily adapted. Moreover, weight updating involves a nonlinear function, which recently has been shown to have an efficient hardware implementation. The proposed adaptive algorithm has been successfully tested in terms of accuracy and convergence on a system-identification simulation.
Parameters identification of induction motor dynamic model for offshore applications

The paper presents a technique to identify parameters of the LuGre dynamic friction model applied to represent mechanical losses of an induction motor. This method is based on Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) system identification which is able to estimate parameters of nonlinear mathematical models. Within the presented approach, the network is first trained to associate model parameters with predicted friction torque, being given the reference motor speed. When this process completes, the inverse operation is performed and the network delivers estimated parameters of the model based on the reference friction torque. This paper presents a procedure for the identification of imperfections of structural parameters based on displacement measurements by static tests. The proposed procedure is based on the well-known Hu–Washizu variational principle, suitably modified to account for the response measurements, which is able to provide closed-form solutions to some inverse problems for the identification of structural parameter imperfections in beams. This paper deals with modeling and identification of vertical dynamics of the ground vehicle equipped with two active anti-roll torsion bars. A series of field tests of a full-scale drive have been performed, from which multiple displacement and acceleration data of the unsprung and sprung masses have been collected for each vehicle corner. This paper introduces a method to identify the bending modes of vibration of railway tracks by using a laser Doppler vibrometer (LDV) mounted on a moving platform. This paper examines the vibrations of a rail span (rail section between two consecutive sleepers) during and after the passage of a rail car’s wheel as well as under impact hammer excitation. In literature, the dynamic response of railway tracks under moving loads has been studied extensively. Many of these studies focus on the responses in relation to displacement/force-time histories and wave propagation parameters.
