Distributing warnings and alerts of authorities to citizens currently happens through national TV and radio channels, but telecom networks are also used now in some countries for this purpose. Crowdboard: An Augmented Whiteboard to Support Large-Scale Co-Design

Co-design efforts attempt to account for many diverse viewpoints. However, design teams lack support for meaningful real-time interaction with a large community of potential stakeholders. We present Crowdboard, a novel whiteboard system that enables many potential stakeholders to provide real-time input during early-stage design activities, such as concept mapping. Local design teams develop ideas on a standard whiteboard, which is augmented with annotations and comments from online participants. The system makes it possible for design teams to solicit real-time opinions and ideas from a community of people intrinsically motivated to shape the product/service.
A grid representation for distributed virtual environments

Fast Internet connections and the widespread use of high performance graphic cards are making Distributed Virtual Environments (DVE) very common nowadays. The architecture and behavior of these systems are very similar to new grid computing applications where concepts such as sharing and high scalability are extremely exploited. A Direct Approach to Robot Soccer Agents: Description for the Team Mainz Rolling rains Simulation League of RoboCup ’98

In the team described in this paper we realize a direct approach to soccer agents for the simulation league of the RoboCup '98- tournament. Its backbone is formed by a detailed world model. Based on information which is reconstructed on the world model level, the rule-based decision levels chose a relevant action. The architecture for the goalie is different from the regular players, introducing heterogeneousness into the team, which combines the advantages of the different control strategies.
A hybrid architecture for autonomous agents

A new hybrid approach for autonomous agents is described. The approach integrates in a principled way the functional and the behavioral approaches of agent design. The integration is based on the introduction of a conceptual space representation that links the subsymbolic level, which is a repository of reactive modules, with the symbolic level, in which rich symbolic descriptions of the agent environment take place. Results are reported obtained by an experimental implementation of the agent.

This article presents an enhanced system for real-time power flow monitoring and control (PFMC) for microgrids integration in medium-voltage (MV) distribution networks. The developed solution includes both system architecture and the monitoring and control algorithms, and it has low implementation and installation costs.
