This paper proposes a control system for a quadratic boost DC/DC converter in a wide range of operations, based on an inner loop with a sliding mode controller, for reaching a desired equilibrium state, and an outer loop with integral-type controller, for assuring robustness against load and input voltage variations and converter parameter uncertainties. State-of-the-art modern microprocessor and domain-specific accelerator designs are dominated by data-paths composed of regular structures, also known as bit-slices. Random logic placement and routing techniques may not result in an optimal layout for these data-path-dominated designs. As a result, implementation tools such as Cadence’s Innovus include a Structured Data-Path (SDP) feature that allows data-path placement to be completely customized by constraining the placement engine. Assessment of the Current for a Non-Linear Power Inductor Including Temperature in DC-DC Converters

A method for estimating the current flowing through a non-linear power inductor operating in a DC/DC converter is proposed. The knowledge of such current, that cannot be calculated in closed form as for the linear inductor, is crucial for the design of the converter. The proposed method is based on a third-order polynomial model of the inductor, already developed by the authors; it is exploited to solve the differential equation of the inductor and to implement a flux model in a circuit simulator. Crowd-Averse Cyber-Physical Systems: The Paradigm of Robust Mean-Field Games

For a networked controlled system, we illustrate the paradigm of robust mean-field games. This is a modeling framework at the interface of differential game theory, mathematical physics, and $H_{\infty}$ - optimal control that tries to capture the mutual influence between a crowd and its individuals. First, we establish a mean-field system for such games including the effects of adversarial disturbances. Second, we identify the optimal response of the individuals for a given population behavior. Third, we provide an analysis of equilibria and their stability.

Abstract We study an n -agent averaging process with dynamics subject to controls and adversarial disturbances. The model arises in multi-population opinion dynamics with macroscopic and microscopic intertwined dynamics. The averaging process describes the influence from neighbouring populations, whereas the input term indicates how the distribution of opinions in the population changes as a result of dynamical evolutions at a microscopic level (individuals’ changing opinions). Integrated dimensional and drive-train design optimization of a light-weight anthropomorphic arm

An approach to minimize the mass of robotic manipulators is developed by integrated dimensional and drive-train optimization. The method addresses the influences of dimensions and characteristics of drive-trains in the design optimization. Constraints are formulated on the basis of kinematic performance and dynamic requirements, whereas the main objective is to minimize the total mass. Case studies are included to demonstrate the application of the optimization method in the design of assistive robots.

The interconnection of grounding systems of HV-MV stations via the armors of medium voltage cables, is herein analyzed to verify the effects on touch voltages in ground-fault conditions. The major contributions of this paper are two: the analysis of the impact of an HV ground-fault on a global grounding system (GGS), and the analysis of the parameters that may affect safety due to the interconnection between HV-MV stations and the GGS.
