Stability of a Tensioned Axially Moving Plate Subjected to Cross-Direction Potential Flow

We analyze the stability of an axially moving Kirchhoff plate, subjected to an axial potential flow perpendicular to the direction of motion. The dimensionality of the problem is reduced by considering a cross-directional cross-section of the plate, approximating the axial response with the solution of the corresponding problem of a moving plate in vacuum. The flow component is handled via a Green’s function solution. The stability of the cross-section is investigated via the classical Euler type static linear stability analysis method. The Hybrid Equilibrium Element (HEE) formulation, with quadratic stress field is defined in the class of statically admissible solutions, which implicitly satisfy the homogeneous equilibrium equations. The inter-element equilibrium condition and the boundary equilibrium condition are exactly imposed by considering a quadratic displacement fields at the element sides, as an interfacial Lagrangian variable, in a classical hybrid formulation. Structural damage detection using time domain vibration responses has attracted more and more researchers in recent years because of its simplicity in calculation and no requirement of a finite element model. This paper proposes a new approach to locate the damage using the auto correlation function of vibration response signals under sinusoidal excitation from different measurement points of the structure, based on which a vector named Auto Correlation Function at Maximum Point Value Vector (AMV) is formulated. Simulation of propagation characteristics of ultrasonic guided waves in fractured long bone

Using ultrasonic guided waves (GW) to assess fractures in long bones has gained considerable attention. This paper focuses on using an improved hybrid boundary element method (HBEM) to analyze and calculate reflection coefficients (RC) and transmission coefficients (TC) of low-order GWs for cracks with different depth-to-width ratios (d/w) in fractured long bones. The results showed that the primary received modes, which include the transmitted and reflected modes, are the same as the incident modes. This paper describes the new Antiproton Decelerator (AD) orbit measurement system and the Extra Low ENergy Antiproton ring (ELENA) orbit, trajectory and intensity measurement system. The AD machine at European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) is presently being used to decelerate antiprotons from 3.57 GeV/c to 100 MeV/c for matter vs anti-matter comparative studies. The ELENA machine, presently under commissioning, has been designed to provide an extra deceleration stage down to 13.7 MeV/c. In the race towards purely optical communications, the necessity of producing integrated components is linked to the requirement for the precise characteriza-tion of optoelectronic components. Near-field detection techniques meet this requirement, AFM (Atomic Force Microscopy), for instance, can provide the topography of a given sample. Search for an electric charge of the neutron

The electrical neutrality of the neutron is linked to the electric charge quantization. It is not understood yet if the electric charge is quantized or not. Since the discovery of the neutron, many attempts have been made to measure its electric charge ${q}_{n}$ directly and indirectly. We present a method to search for a possible ${q}_{n}$ by means of an optical setup using ultracold neutrons. In a first run, a statistical sensitivity of $\ensuremath{\delta}{q}_{n}=2.4\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}20}\text{ }\text{ }e/\sqrt{\mathrm{day}}$ is achieved.
