ZNF518B as a transcriptional factor involved in colorectal cancer progression through the epithelial to mesenchymal transition

2019

Abstract Background Colorectal cancer (CRC) represents a relevant public health problem. The identification of new markers involved in the mechanisms of invasiveness represents a priority in order to better understand cancer development and generate new therapeutic targets. Recently, our group demonstrated overexpression of ZNF518B gene, which encodes an unknown zinc finger transcription factor, in CRC. A transcriptome-wide gene expression profile revealed its implication in different biological processes related to the progression of CRC, especially in the epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT). Methods To study the biological processes regulated by ZNF518B, we performed a ClariomS Arr…

Optimized Handover Algorithm Based on Stackelberg Games in CBTC Systems for Urban Rail Transit

2014

Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) systems have become indispensable for train operation to improve the safety and efficiency of train running to the utmost extent at present. In this paper, the problem of train handover in wireless LAN of CBTC systems for urban rail transit was taken into consideration, which was formulated as a market competition with Stackelberg games and cooperative diversity to obtain the reasonable resource allocation for trains. Under the environment of continuous train-to-wayside communications with high reliability, the successful train handover probability was analyzed in detail. Firstly, the relay triggering during handover was introduced, and the price st…

Overexpression of STAT-1 by adenoviral gene transfer does not inhibit hepatitis B virus replication.

2006

Objectives Interferons are known to inhibit the replication of hepatitis B viruses (HBV) in several animal models in vitro and in vivo as well in humans. The STAT-1 protein plays a central role in the biological activity of both type I and type II interferons. The lack of functional STAT-1 renders cells and organisms susceptible to bacterial and viral infectious agents. We analysed whether the overexpression of STAT-1 protein enhances the biological interferon response and whether it elicits antiviral acitivity against HBV in vitro. Methods To achieve an efficient STAT-1 overexpression in primary liver cells and hepatoma cells, we generated a recombinant, replication-deficient adenovirus ex…

Shear design of high strength concrete beams in MRFs

2019

This paper presents the criteria for the shear design of high strength concrete (HSC) beams in moment resisting frames (MRFs). The formulation of an analytical model is provided for the case of beams with longitudinal reinforcement in the presence of transverse stirrups. The model is of additive type, in the meaning that the shear resistance of the beam is evaluated as the sum of several contributions. In particular, the contribution of concrete, longitudinal rebars, and transversal reinforcement are taken into account. Furthermore, for assessing the concrete contribution, a classical approach is followed, according to which two effects arise in the shear mechanism: the arc and the beam eff…

Site specificity of yeast histone acetyltransferase B complex in vivo

2008

Saccharomyces cerevisiae Hat1, together with Hat2 and Hif1, forms the histone acetyltransferase B (HAT-B) complex. Previous studies performed with synthetic N-terminal histone H4 peptides found that whereas the HAT-B complex acetylates only Lys12, recombinant Hat1 is able to modify Lys12 and Lys5. Here we demonstrate that both Lys12 and Lys5 of soluble, non-chromatin-bound histone H4 are in vivo targets of acetylation for the yeast HAT-B enzyme. Moreover, coimmunoprecipitation assays revealed that Lys12/Lys5-acetylated histone H4 is bound to the HAT-B complex in the soluble cell fraction. Both Hat1 and Hat2, but not Hif1, are required for the Lys12/Lys5-specific acetylation and for histone …

LA QUESTIONE ABITATIVA TRA SOSTENIBILITÀ SOCIALE E DINAMICHE IMMOBILIARI

2017

Inulin-based polymer coated SPIONs as potential drug delivery systems for targeted cancer therapy

2014

This paper deal with the synthesis and characterization of PEGylated squalene-grafted-inulin amphiphile capable of self-assembling and self-organizing into nanocarriers once placed in aqueous media. It was exploited as coating agent for obtaining doxorubicin loaded superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) endowed with stealth like behavior and excellent physicochemical stability. Inulin was firstly modified in the side chain with primary amine groups, followed in turn by conjugation with squalenoyl derivatives through common amidic coupling agents and PEGylation by imine linkage. Polymer coated SPIONs were so obtained by spontaneous self-assembling of inulin copolymer onto magnet…

T helper 1 response is correlated with widespread pain, fatigue, sleeping disorders and the quality of life in patients with fibromyalgia and is modu…

2019

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) has been used as treatment for different clinical conditions, including fibromyalgia (FM). HBOT modulates brain activity, ameliorates chronic pain and modifies the ratio of immune cells. Clinical studies have provided evidence that FM is associated with immune system dysregulation. In the present study we aimed to evaluate the effect of HBOT on immune system and on the quality of life-style of FM patients.Patients with primary FM and controls were treated with HBOT. Physical, emotional and social assessment, quality of sleep, tender points, intensity score, WPI and symptom severity were evaluated before and after HBOT. Furthermore, a characterisation of CD4 …
