The digitization of post-baccalaureate recruitment: Its challenges and its limits Can we speak of innovation?
2020

While the future of work is discussed from many perspectives, discussions on how an individual's own work tasks are changing are relatively rare (Dufva et al. 2017). This article builds on our alumni study (Selkälä, Tahkokorpi & Virtaluoto 2018), in which we discovered that despite the perceived changes in working life - often called the disruption of work - the foreign language alumni of the Oulu University have found permanent positions in the traditional professions of language graduates with relative ease. For them, the disruption of work has not affected employability or the terms of employment. To investigate how working life has changed for people in these professions, we gathered gr…
Induction of digoxin-like material production, and the digoxin binding in the unicellular organism Tetrahymena by digitoxin.
1998
Thin layer chromatographic, and laser-confocal microscopic analyses with a monoclonal antibody to digoxin also displaying high affinity to digoxigenin, were used to determine the presence and localization of cardioactive glycosides. Tetrahymena pyriformis was found to possess digitoxigenin-like material, but digoxin, digitoxin, digoxigenin, gitoxin and lanatoside C were not detected. Digitoxin treatment elicited the appearance of a digoxin-like material in the progeny generations. Digoxin was taken up by untreated Tetrahymena, especially strongly 24 h after digitoxin treatment. While the cardenolide was localized in vesicles of the cell body in untreated Tetrahymena, the engulfed digoxin ap…
Magnesium concentration in saliva — an indicator of digitalis toxicity
1981
In a prospective study salivary magnesium was measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometry in 168 patients on chronic digoxin therapy. Magnesium concentration in saliva was correlated with clinical data and plasma digoxin levels. A significant elevation in salivary magnesium concentration was caused by digoxin therapy (0.58 +/- 0.39 mmol/l, n = 93) in comparison to patients with no digitalis treatment (0.17 +/- 0.07 mmol/l, n = 35). Magnesium concentrations in saliva were significantly higher in toxic patients (1.1 +/- 0.68 mmol/l, n = 32) than in nontoxic patients. Possibly toxic patients showed a magnesium level of saliva of 0.63 +/- 0.39 mmol/l (n = 40). In 89% of the intoxicated pati…
El discurso totalitario del partido político España 2000
2016

Drivers, barriers and impacts of digitalisation in rural areas from the viewpoint of experts
2022
Abstract Context: The domain of rural areas, including rural communities, agriculture, and forestry, is going through a process of deep digital transformation. Digitalisation can have positive impacts on sustainability in terms of greater environmental control, and community prosperity. At the same time, it can also have disruptive effects, with the marginalisation of actors that cannot cope with the change. When developing a novel system for rural areas, requirements engineers should carefully consider the specific socio-economic characteristics of the domain, so that potential positive effects can be maximised, while mitigating negative impacts. Objective: The goal of this paper is to sup…

Managers sans Owners and not Owners sans Managers
2008
Drucker’s search for an alternative to both capitalism and socialism was not undertaken in isolation from others also searching for such an alternative (Mosse, 1987). Regarding those others, the proponents of a totalitarian alternative admired the industrialist, Henry Ford. Their admiration was partially because of the belief that an entrepreneur such as Ford could innovate and prosper without management. Drucker, however, advocated the necessity of autonomous management in a society of organisations. What thus becomes essential to the organization for Drucker is management, even if for Drucker marketing is the essential function of the business. Furthermore, Drucker’s advocacy for the nece…
LA VALUTAZIONE DELLA DURABILITÀ DI INTONACI FOTOCATALITICI
2014
Energy saving and the rational use of natural resources in the building process, nowadays, are very debated environmental issues, involving researchers and companies in the production and testing of innovative materials. Reducing the consumption of resources means more durable buildings, thus an important contribution in this way is given by the knowledge of the durability of products and building components. This is fundamental when innovative products are applied and no information are available on their service life. The research concerns the evaluation of the durability of cement-based photocatalytic coatings, containing different types of pigments, used for external finishing of buildi…
