Multicomponent line profile restoring by means of ill-posed inverse task solution

The investigation of the criteria of usage of the Tikhonov regularization method for multicomponent overlapping line profiles restoring was done by means of model task solution. The influence of the width and kind of the instrumental function, number of the components of the profile and distance between components are discussed.

Abstract To better understand consumer decision making processes while purchasing wine it is important to identify which attributes consumers actually rely on and how they perceive and weight them in order to reach a final decision. The aims of the present work were to identify motives underlying wine purchase decisions and to identify consumer segments with different drivers of wine purchase. Understanding quality perception requires focusing both on product proprieties and consumers' representations. The goal of this study was to access the representations of perceived extrinsic wine quality of consumers from two different wine regions in two European countries with an important wine tradition: La Rioja-RJ-(Spain) and Cotes du Rhone-CdR-(France). Twenty commercial red wines (ten from RJ and ten from CdR) were evaluated in terms of quality by means of a categorization task. The Fifth Lesson: Students’ Responses to a Patterning Task Across the Four Countries

The chapter reports a comparative analysis of problem-solving activities in classrooms in the four countries. The problem students work with is a patterning task, taken from a major international comparative study. The idea of analyzing this group work across countries is to see what traces of algebra learning may be discerned in the work of the students. The results show the complexities of early algebra learning by presenting in detail the obvious variations in how students tackle the problem in more or less algebraic ways. In the small-group work in classrooms, students pool their ideas allowing for the discourse to build on itself in a cumulative manner.

This introductory chapter describes the fundamentals for later analysis, modeling and discussion of choice tasks and behavior. Figure 2.1 depicts the basic elements of the choice process which are relevant for the present work. On the left hand side, we see the general problem the decision makers are faced with: the choice task. Generally speaking, a choice task defines the problem of choosing the preferred out of a discrete and finite set of alternatives. The decision makers’ preferences determine what the preferred alternative is. Thus, in Sect. 2.1, we define both choice tasks and preferences.
