Caratterizzazione geotecnica di un’argilla trattata con calce posta in rilevato

Nelle nota si presentano alcuni risultati di un’indagine di laboratorio eseguita su campioni indisturbati prelevati da un rilevato sperimentale, realizzato trattando con calce i terreni argillosi provenienti dallo scavo di una vicina galleria artificiale. La ricerca è stata sviluppata nell'ambito dei lavori di ammodernamento della S.S. 640 tra Agrigento e Caltanissetta. I risultati, oltre ad evidenziare gli usuali effetti derivanti dalle modifiche delle caratteristiche geotecniche dell’argilla indotti dai processi di stabilizzazione con calce, consentono di evidenziare alcune peculiarità del comportamento meccanico delle argille trattate.

Effects of Rosmarinus officinalis and Salvia officinalis essential oils on Tetranychus urticae Koch (Acari: Tetranychidae)

Laboratory trials were carried out to characterize Rosmarinus officinal and Salvia officinalis essential oils and to evaluate their pesticidal activities against Tetranychus urticae. Slide-dip and leaf-disk bioassays were employed to study the mortality caused by these plant oils on two-spotted spiders. Different dilutions of both essential oils (0.10-0.25%, v/v) caused acute contact toxicity, although the sage extract showed greater acaricidal activity than rosemary oil. Mortality rates of 95-100% were observed at all the sage oil dosages and when rosemary emulsions contained at least 0.20% of essential oil. The medial cortex of lizards is a simple three-layered brain region displaying many characteristics which parallel the hippocampal fascia dentata of mammals. Its principal neurons form a morphologically diverse population, partly as a result of the prominent continuous growth of this nervous centre. By using the classical Golgi impregnation method we describe here the morphology of the principal neurons (8 types) and the short-axon interneurons (18 types) populating the medial cortex of Podarcis hispanica as well as the connections between them.

The chromatin structure of theLEU2 gene and its flanks has been studied by means of nuclease digestion, both with micrococcal nuclease and DNase I. The gene is organized in an array of positioned nucleosomes. Within the promoter region, the nucleosome positioning places the regulatory sequences, putative TATA box and upstream activator sequence outside the nucleosomal cores. The tRNA3 Leu gene possesses a characteristic structure and is protected against nucleases. Most of the 5′ flank is sensitive to DNase I digestion, although no clear hypersensitive sites were found. Control of Bactrocera oleae and Ceratitis capitata in Organic Orchards: Use of Clays and Copper Products.

Tests on the effect of clays (kaolin and bentonite) and copper products (hydroxide and oxychloride) in the control of olive fruit fly, Bactrocera oleae (Rossi), and Mediterranean fruit fly, Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann), were carried out from 2003 to 2006 in olive groves and in organic citrus orchards (satsuma, clementine, ‘Navelina’ orange). Results demonstrate an efficacy of kaolin products in reducing attacks of B. oleae on olives and those of C. capitata on citrus fruits; in olive groves the clays gave similar or better results than copper hydroxide. SummaryA protocol for in vitro propagation of adult Lavandula dentata plants has been achieved. Cultures were established by placing nodal segments on Murashige and Skoog medium containing BA, KIN, and NAA. Highest shoot multiplication rates were obtained when explants grown in the presence of 5.0 μM BA or 20 (JLM KIN were transferred to medium with 8.8 μM BA and 15% coconut milk. Multiplication efficiency through subcultures was significantly affected by the cytokinin concentration in the initial culture medium. El cáncer de próstata (CaP) es un problema sanitario de primer orden. Mundialmente, cada año se diagnostican aproximadamente 700.000 casos, de los cuales, 13.300 corresponden a España. En cuanto al manejo clínico, esta enfermedad presenta una serie de problemas que conducen tanto al infraestadiaje como al sobretratamiento de un porcentaje significativo de tumores.
