Qui n’a pas utilisé un manuel scolaire à l’école ? Ce manuel semble être un simple support pédagogique de résultats scientifiques dont seul l’enseignant en profite. On s’intéresse souvent à sa forme ou son prix, mais en quoi il peut être utile à l’école. Ce travail s’inscrit dans un cadre didactique de l’enseignement constructiviste des sciences naturelles, et porte, en particulier, sur le processus de l’élaboration des contenus manuels scolaires. Textbooks as ‘Neoliberal artifacts’: a critical study of knowledge-making in ELT industry

The present study examined the traces of neoliberal ideology in O-level English language textbooks taught in elitist private schools in Pakistan that follow the UK-based international educational system administrated by the University of Cambridge under the General Certificate of Education (GCE). Analysis in the study was informed by Fairclough's CDA writings. Moreover, Bourdieu's views on neoliberalism were also considered to shed some light on neoliberal ideology in the textbooks. Improvisational psychodynamic music therapy (IPMT) has been demonstrated by Erkkilä et al. (2011) to be effective in the treatment for people suffering from depression. For the purpose of a mixed methods research design all musical improvisations have been captured electronically, the therapist’s notes have been standardized, and the sessions have been recorded and saved. Furthermore, the research team of the university of Jyväskylä has developed a computational analysis software, called Music Therapy Toolbox (MTTB). This article focuses on verbal interaction in whole class teaching in second language education for adults in Sweden. The article draws on theories treating language as multiple resources that are situated and embedded in material life, and including complex and diverse linguistic, semiotic, physical material and social resources. The material for the article was created in a project based in linguistic ethnography in the form of an action research project, including two municipal Swedish for Immigrants (SFI) schools. Looking for an Order of Things: Textbooks and Chemical Classifications in Nineteenth Century France

The purpose of this paper is to reconsider the issue of the creativity of textbook writing by exploring the links between nineteenth-century French textbooks and the quest for a classification of elements. The first section presents the elegant combination of didactic and chemical constraints invented by eighteenth-century chemists: the order of learning - from the known to the unknown - and the order of things - from the simple to the complex - were one and the same.
