La rappresentazione dell’imperatore Anastasio è analizzata nei diversi filoni della tradizione storiografica, agiografica e letteraria, nei suoi molteplici aspetti, dal motivo dell’attesa soteriologica nel momento dell’ascesa al potere (De cerimoniis di Costantino Porfirogenito, Panegirici di Procopio di Gaza e Prisciano di Cesarea, Vita di S. Daniele Stilita) a posizioni diversificate espresse in relazione alla sua politica nella storiografia ecclesiastica, ortodossa o monofisita, e nella restante documentazione agiografica, fino all’identificazione dell’imperatore con caratteri tipici dell’Anticristo e del suo regno come finis temporum elaborata in ambito siriano.
Human capital and the intertemporal substitution for leisure: empirical evidence for Spain

AbstractIn this paper we provide the first estimate of the intertemporal substitution for leisure in Spain, accounting for the impact of human capital accumulation. This would allow uncovering whether the intertemporal labour supply of Spanish workers is affected by human capital. Our empirical strategy consists of estimating the equation for the intertemporal substitution of leisure with and without accounting for human capital, what allows to detect hypothetical estimation biases associated to omitting the impact of human capital. Temporizing and Essentializing the Enemy : A Logological Reading of Finnish Lutheran Clerical War Rhetoric

This article looks at the shift between logical and temporal vocabularies, called by Kenneth Burke the temporizing of essence. It combines “logology” with a rhetorical analysis of how it was applied in a concrete historical situation as a means of persuasion. First, I discuss Burke’s logology, which is the theory underlying the idea of temporized essence. Second, I turn to the notion in relation to its two main forms, origins and fruition; third, Finnish clerical rhetoric during the Continuation War 1941–44 will be analyzed using ideas drawn on logology. peerReviewed

The effect of musical tempo on video game performance

There is little research on music and audio in video games. What theory exists relies heavily upon borrowing concepts from similar fields such as film music. The empirical research conducted has been varied in scope, but small in number. This thesis explores the current state of theory and research in video game music and audio. In order to investigate if music can affect performance in a video game, an experiment was conducted. Participants were asked to play the popular video game Tetris multiple times to music of varying tempi.
