Solution of universal nonrelativistic nuclear DFT equations in the Cartesian deformed harmonic-oscillator basis. (IX) HFODD (v3.06h) : a new version …
2021
We describe the new version (v3.06h) of the code HFODD that solves the universal nonrelativistic nuclear DFT Hartree-Fock or Hartree-Fock-Bogolyubov problem by using the Cartesian deformed harmonic-oscillator basis. In the new version, we implemented the following new features: (i) zero-range three- and four-body central terms, (ii) zero-range three-body gradient terms, (iii) zero-range tensor terms, (iv) zero-range isospin-breaking terms, (v) finite-range higher-order regularized terms, (vi) finite-range separable terms, (vii) zero-range two-body pairing terms, (viii) multi-quasiparticle blocking, (ix) Pfaffian overlaps, (x) particle-number and parity symmetry restoration, (xi) axializatio…
Search for new physics in beta-neutrino correlations with the WITCH spectrometer
2002
The WITCH (Weak Interaction Trap for CHarged particles) experiment is a retardation spectrometer coupled to a Penning trap and measures the beta-neutrino angular correlation via the shape of the recoil energy spectrum. The present form of the Standard Model describes weak processes in terms of vector and axial-vector type interactions, but the possible presence of scalar and tensor interactions is not yet ruled out. The main aim of this experiment is a test of the Standard Model for possible admixture of scalar and tensor currents. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
Numerical analysis of the Oseen-type Peterlin viscoelastic model by the stabilized Lagrange-Galerkin method, Part II: A linear scheme
2017
This is the second part of our error analysis of the stabilized Lagrange-Galerkin scheme applied to the Oseen-type Peterlin viscoelastic model. Our scheme is a combination of the method of characteristics and Brezzi-Pitk\"aranta's stabilization method for the conforming linear elements, which leads to an efficient computation with a small number of degrees of freedom especially in three space dimensions. In this paper, Part II, we apply a semi-implicit time discretization which yields the linear scheme. We concentrate on the diffusive viscoelastic model, i.e. in the constitutive equation for time evolution of the conformation tensor a diffusive effect is included. Under mild stability condi…
The Partial Inner Product Space Method: A Quick Overview
2010
Many families of function spaces play a central role in analysis, in particular, in signal processing (e.g., wavelet or Gabor analysis). Typical are spaces, Besov spaces, amalgam spaces, or modulation spaces. In all these cases, the parameter indexing the family measures the behavior (regularity, decay properties) of particular functions or operators. It turns out that all these space families are, or contain, scales or lattices of Banach spaces, which are special cases ofpartial inner product spaces(PIP-spaces). In this context, it is often said that such families should be taken as a whole and operators, bases, and frames on them should be defined globally, for the whole family, instead o…
Measurement of inclusive K*(0)(892), phi(1020) and K-2*(0)(1430) production in hadronic Z decays
1996
The inclusive production of the neutral vector mesons K-*0(892) and phi(1020), and of the tensor meson K-2(*0)(1430), in hadronic decays of the Z has been mea sured by the DELPHI detector at LEP. The average production rates per hadronic Z decay have been determined to be 0.77 +/- 0.08 K-2(*0)(892), 0.104 +/- 0.008 phi(1020) and 0.079 +/- 0.040 K-2(*0)(1430). The ratio of the tensor-to-vector meson production yields, [K-2(*0)(1430)]/[K-*0(892)] = 0.10 +/- 0.05, is smaller than the [f(2)(1270)]/[rho(0)(770)] and [f'(2)(1525)]/[phi(1020)] ratios measured by DELPHI. The production rates and differential cross sections are compared with the predictions of JETSET 7.4 tuned to the DELPHI data and…
A study of the Lorentz structure in tau decays
2000
This paper describes a measurement of the Michel parameters, \eta, \rho, \xi, \xi\delta, and the average \nu_{\tau} helicity, h_{\nu_{\tau}}, in tau lepton decays together with the first measurement of the tensor coupling in the weak charged current. The tau+tau- pairs were produced at the LEP e+e- collider at CERN from 1992 through 1995 in the DELPHI detector. Assuming lepton universality in the decays of the tau the measured values of the parameters were: \eta = -0.005 +/- 0.036 +/- 0.037, \rho = 0.775 +/- 0.023 +/- 0.020, \xi = 0.929 +/- 0.070 +/- 0.030, \xi\delta = 0.779 +/- 0.070 +/- 0.028, h_{\nu_{\tau}} = -0.997 +/- 0.027 +/- 0.011. The strength of the tensor coupling was measured to…
Tibial tubercle osteotomy: effect of different osteotomy planes on contact surface area and tubercle anteriorization
2022
In 1983, Fulkerson introduced a technique of tibial tubercle osteotomy performed according to an inclined plane with respect to frontal plane. Due to obliquity of the osteotomy plane, this procedure allows both anterior and medial transfer of the tibial tubercle. The purpose of the study was to investigate the influence of the different degrees of the oblique plane of osteotomy on anterior displacement and the contact surface area of tibial tubercle. Synthetic bones were used for the study. An osteotomy of the tibial tubercle (TT) was performed in each specimen. Specifically, 3 different degrees of osteotomy planes relative to the reference frontal plane were examined: 20°, 30° and 40°. On …
Experimental emetine myopathy: enzyme histochemical, electron microscopic, and immunomorphological studies.
1993
Ipecac, containing emetine hydrochloride, is used by patients with anorexia nervosa to induce vomiting. Its chronic usage may result in a myopathy and a cardiomyopathy, the former marked by cytoplasmic bodies. We studied myopathological changes after daily injections of female Wistar rats with emetine hydrochloride intraperitoneally for periods of 4, 5, 9, and 10 weeks. the extensor digitorum longus muscle and the soleus muscle showed core-like lesions, streaming of the z-discs, nemaline bodies, cytoplasmic bodies, and spheroid cytoplasmic bodies. Immunomorphological studies revealed increased amounts of desmin. During a period of repair, i.e., 2, 4, and 6 weeks after termination of emetine…
Conditions for achieving invisibility of hyperbolic multilayered nanotubes
2016
Invisibility of nanotubes has recently been demonstrated in highly anisotropic metamaterials in the transition regime from hyperbolic to elliptic dispersion [Sci. Rep. 5 (2015) 16027]. In such study, the characterization of a realistic multilayered metamaterial was carried out by means of an effective medium approach providing average components of the permittivity tensor and wave fields. Here, the edge effects of the metal-dielectric stratified nanotube for different combinations were thoroughly analyzed. We show how the boundary layers, which in principle remain fully irrelevant in the estimation of the effective permittivity of the nanotube, however play a critical role in the scattering…
Correction: Widespread white matter microstructural abnormalities in bipolar disorder: evidence from mega- and meta-analyses across 3033 individuals
2019
Fronto-limbic white matter (WM) abnormalities are assumed to lie at the heart of the pathophysiology of bipolar disorder (BD); however, diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) studies have reported heterogeneous results and it is not clear how the clinical heterogeneity is related to the observed differences. This study aimed to identify WM abnormalities that differentiate patients with BD from healthy controls (HC) in the largest DTI dataset of patients with BD to date, collected via the ENIGMA network. We gathered individual tensor-derived regional metrics from 26 cohorts leading to a sample size of N = 3033 (1482 BD and 1551 HC). Mean fractional anisotropy (FA) from 43 regions of interest (ROI) a…
