Fauna Europaea: Hymenoptera - Apocrita (excl. Ichneumonoidea)
2015
Fauna Europaea provides a public web-service with an index of scientific names (including important synonyms) of all living European land and freshwater animals, their geographical distribution at country level (up to the Urals, excluding the Caucasus region), and some additional information. The Fauna Europaea project covers about 230,000 taxonomic names, including 130,000 accepted species and 14,000 accepted subspecies. This represents a huge effort by more than 400 contributing specialists throughout Europe and is a unique (standard) reference suitable for many users in science, government, industry, nature conservation and education. Hymenoptera is one of the four largest orders of inse…

Study on the application of an interspecific competition model for the prediction of microflora behaviour during the fermentation process of S. Angel…
2009
The use of predictive microbiology models able to evaluate bacterial behaviour as a function of environmental conditions and, at the same time, of natural microflora competition was considered by several authors with different approaches. Some authors modelled bacterial competition as a function of metabolic product with particular regard to lactic acid and modelled interspecific bacterial competition introducing a term into a conventional primary predictive model, which gives account for the interaction between two populations, so that they inhibit each other to the same extent that they inhibit their own growth.

Varietal and geographic classification of french red wines in terms of pigments and flavonoid compounds
1988
Thirty-four French red wines originating from six different grape varieties and three different production areas were analysed in duplicate for 15 anthocyanins, ten flavonoids and three colour parameters, F-statistics, principal component analysis and stepwise discriminant analysis were used to identify and to explain differences among samples. Clear difference between wines made from different varieties were mainly related to anthocyanin 3-acylglucosides. Malvidin and peonidin 3-acetylglucosides were found in increasing concentrations in wines made respectively from Grenache, Carignan, Cinsault, Merlot, Carbernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes; the concentrations of peonidin and malvi…

Synthesis of fluorinated allylic amines: Reaction of 2-(trimethylsilyl)ethyl sulfones and sulfoxides with fluorinated imines
2007
A new synthesis of fluorinated allylamines through the reaction of 2-(trimethylsilyl)ethyl sulfones and sulfoxides (as vinyl anion equivalents) with imines and imino esters has been described. The process includes a TBAF-mediated fragmentation of 2-(trimethylsilyl)ethyl sulfones to afford the desired allylic amines. When the reaction is performed with the corresponding sulfoxides, the fragmentation takes place under the addition conditions, affording the final products in a single step. (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V. Synthesis of No-Carrier-Added 4-[18F]Fluorophenol from 4-Benzyloxyphenyl-(2-thienyl)iodonium Bromide
2011
4-[(18)F]Fluorophenol is a versatile synthon for the synthesis of more complex radiopharmaceuticals bearing a 4-[(18)F]fluorophenoxy moiety. In order to prepare 4-[(18)F]fluorophenol in no-carrier-added (n.c.a.) form only a nucleophilic labelling method starting from [(18)F]fluoride is suitable. In this paper a new, two step radiosynthesis starting from 4-benzyloxyphenyl-(2-thienyl)iodonium bromide and [(18)F]fluoride with subsequent deprotection is described, yielding n.c.a. [(18)F]fluorophenol in 34 to 36% radiochemical yield.
The mechanism of formamide hydrolysis in water from ab initio calculations and simulations.
2005
The neutral hydrolysis of formamide in water is a suitable reference to quantify the efficiency of proteolytic enzymes. However, experimental data for this reaction has only very recently been obtained and the kinetic constant determined experimentally is significantly higher than that predicted by previous theoretical estimations. In this work, we have investigated in detail the possible mechanisms of this reaction. Several solvent models have been considered that represent a considerable improvement on those used in previous studies. Density functional and ab initio calculations have been carried out on a system which explicitly includes the first solvation shell of the formamide molecule…
Testing a portable laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy system on geological samples.
2012
9 pages; International audience; This paper illustrates the potentialities of a home-made portable LIBS (laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy) instrument in Earth sciences, more particularly in geochemically recognizing (i) tephra layers in lacustrine sediments and (ii) fossilization processes in ammonites. Abundances for selected lines of Al, Ca, Fe, Ti, Ba and Na were determined in lacustrine chalk sediments of the Jura, where the Laacher See Tephra (LST) layer is recorded. A statistical treatment of elemental maps produced from the section of a sedimentary column containing the LST event allows instrumental conditions to be optimized. Accumulating spectra from close shot positions gives …
