Metafikcija un intertekstualitāte Lemonija Sniketa "Nelaimīgo notikumu virknē"
2019
"Carmen, mene ja taiteile maailman lankoja pitkin" : Saila Susiluodon Carmen metalyyrisenä allegoriana
2012
Samalla pyrin havainnoimaan, millaisin keinoin metalyyristä allegoriaa rakennetaan. Luentani teoreettisena viitekehyksenä on metalyriikka, johon muut keskeiset käsitteet suhteutetaan. …
Tertiary lymphoid structures in pulmonary metastases of microsatellite stable colorectal cancer
2023
Tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs) are ectopic lymphoid aggregates located at sites of chronic inflammation and recognized as prognosticators in several cancers. We aimed to analyse the prognostic effect of TLSs in colorectal cancer (CRC) pulmonary metastases and primary tumours, with a comparison to the CD3+ and CD8+ cell density-based immune cell score (ICS). For TLS density and TLS maximum diameter analysis, 67 pulmonary metastases and 63 primary tumours were stained with haematoxylin and eosin. For ICS scoring and analysis, CD3 and CD8 immunohistochemistry was performed. Excellent interobserver agreement was achieved in all TLS measurements. Of all patients, 36 patients had low TLS den…
Intertekstuaalisuus ja sen funktiot Carlos Ruiz Zafónin teoksessa El juego del ángel - Enkelipeli
2015
Tutkielman aiheena on intertekstuaalisuus Carlos Ruiz Zafónin teoksessa El juego del ángel (2008, suom. Enkelipeli, 2009). Teos rakentuu useiden intertekstien, kuten klassikkokirjallisuuden (Dracula, Faust, Frankenstein, Saatana saapuu Moskovaan, Tohtori Faustus sekä Tohtori Jekyll ja herra Hyde), myyttien (Faust- ja kristinuskon paholaismyytti), kirjallisten henkilöhahmojen ja kirjallisuuden lajien kuten gotiikan, fantasian ja salapoliisiromaanin varaan. Tutkimuskysymyksenä on, mitkä ovat teoksessa esiintyvien intertekstien funktiot. Tutkielma pohjautuu erilaisiin intertekstuaalisuuden teorioihin, joista tärkeimmäksi nousevat Christian Morarun sekä Wolfgang G. Müllerin teoriat. Christian M…
Chromogenic detection of nerve agent mimics
2008
The current rise in international concern over criminal terrorist attacks via chemical warfare (CW) agents has resulted in an increasing interest in the detection of these lethal chemicals. Among CW species, nerve agents are extremely dangerous and their high toxicity and ease of production underscore the need to detect these deadly chemicals via quick and reliable procedures. A number of detection systems have been developed, most of them based on enzymatic and physical methodologies. However, these usually show limitations such as low selectivity, lack of portability and a certain complexity in their use. An alternative to these classical methods that has been gaining interest in recent y…
Simultaneous chronic rupture of quadriceps tendon and contra-lateral patellar tendon in a patient affected by tertiary hyperparatiroidism
2007
Abstract Spontaneous ruptures of the extensor mechanism of the knee are very rare. They tend to increase considerably in patients with metabolic diseases such as chronic renal failure, hyperparathyroidism, diabetes, gout, and systemic lupus erythematosus. The reported case regards a 48-year-old man with chronic, spontaneous and simultaneous quadriceps, and contra-lateral patellar tendon rupture. The patient suffered from chronic renal failure and for the past year from tertiary hyperparathyroidism. Ruptured tendons were repaired and both knee were evaluated monthly for the next 12 months. Good functional recovery was achieved on both knees without relapse. This case emphasizes the importanc…
Meaning of countertransference in a music therapy student's clinical studies - towards a professional perspective
2013
The concept of countertransference refers to the therapist's reactions to the client's inner world in therapy situation. Countertransference within therapy relationships can alternate from the therapist's obstructive reactions to positive experiences that may even guide the therapist towards purposeful interventions. In this research I study my own countertransference experience and my learning process of the meaning of countertransference. The methodology of the research is hermeneutic phenomenology and its structure follows the principles of the hermeneutic circle and of Gadamerian hermeneutic analysis. The data is composed of my self-reflections. I examine the self-reflections in the lig…
Multiphoton Absorption of Myoglobin Nitric-Oxide complex: Relaxation by D-NEMD of a Stationary State
2012
ABSTRACT: The photodissociation and geminate recombination of nitric oxide in myoglobin, under continuous illumination, is modeled computationally. The relaxation of the photon energy into the protein matrix is also considered in a single simulation scheme that mimics a complete experimental setup. The dynamic approach to non-equilibrium molecular dynamics is used, starting from a steady state, to compute its relaxation to equilibrium. Simulations are conducted for the native form of sperm whale myoglobin and for two other mutants, V68W and L29F, illustrating a fair diversity of spatial and temporal geminate recombination processes. Energy flow to the heme and immediate protein environment …
