Der Gaius der Preußen

2011

The discovery of the Palimpsest of the Gaius' Institutions in 1816 occurred at the height of palimpsest research and is part of a broader controversy among German and Italian scholars at that time. The deciphering of the lower stratum of the palimpsest and its first publication was supported by the Preußische Akademie der Wissenschaften and was considered as a product of German intellectual spirit. The transcriptions were transferred to the Akademie der Wissenschaften and later to the Königliche Bibliothek of Berlin. Today they are preserved in the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin. They still constitute an indispensable basis for the constitutio textus of Gaius' Institutions.

The BIOSAFEPAPER project for in vitro toxicity assessments: preparation, detailed chemical characterisation and testing of extracts from paper and bo…

2008

International audience; Nineteen food contact papers and boards and one non-food contact board were extracted following test protocols developed within European Union funded project BIOSAFEPAPER. The extraction media were either hot or cold water, 95% ethanol or Tenax, according to the end use of the sample. The extractable dry matter content of the samples varied from 1200 to 11,800 mg/kg (0.8-35.5 mg/dm2). According to GC-MS the main substances extracted into water were pulp-derived natural products such as fatty acids, resin acids, natural wood sterols and alkanols. Substances extracted into ethanol particularly, were diisopropylnaphthalenes, alkanes and phthalic acid esters. The non-foo…

Mācību platformas izglītības digitalizācijas kontekstā Latvijā

2018

Šobrīd, Latvijā notiek vairākas izglītības sistēmas reformas, un viena no tām, nepārprotami, skar arī izglītības digitalizācijas politiku. Pedagoģiskie spēki, skolas vadība un izglītības satura veidotāji nespēj pilnvērtīgi izmantot daudzpusīgo, digitālo mācīšanās risinājumu iespējas un kavē izglītības digitalizācijas procesa norisi, jo tehnoloģiju attīstības straujā daba ir grūti savienojama ar izglītības sistēmas pārmaiņu procesu kārtību. Nepieciešamība izvērtēt izglītības digitalizācijas pedagoģisko potenciālu un Latvijā izveidotā un pielāgotā digitālā mācību satura iespējas noteica Artas Rūdolfas maģistra darba tematu “Mācību platformas izglītības digitalizācijas kontekstā Latvijā”. Piektās klases skolēnu mācīšanās prasmes pilnveide franču valodas stundās

2018

Šajā pētnieciskajā darbā aplūkots un teorētiski pamatots mācīšanās prasmes jēdziens un būtība, analizēts 5. klašu skolēnu mācīšanās prasmes līmenis un izklāstītas rekomendācijas skolotājiem 5. klases skolēnu mācīsanās prasmes pilnveidē franču valodā. Darba mērķis ir, pirmkārt, teorētiski pamatot mācīšanās prasmes būtību un, otrkārt, izstrādāt rekomendācijas skolotājiem mācīšanās prasmes pilnveidei franču valodas apguvē 5. klasē. Darba teorētiskais pamats balstās Dagnijas Deimantes-Hartmanes, Stefana J. Simistera u.c. teorētiķu atziņās, kā arī Eiropas kopīgo pamatnostādņu ieteikumos un kanādiešu mācīšanās prasmes novērtēšanas pieredzē. Darbs sastāv no 3 daļām. Tā pirmajā daļā tiek teorētiski…

Lipid content and essential fatty acid (EFA) composition of mature Congolese breast milk are influenced by mothers' nutritional status: Impact on inf…

1998

To measure the lipid content and the fatty acid (FA) composition of breast milk as part of a nutritional survey of the essential fatty acid (EFA) status of 5 months old Congolese infants.Cross sectional nutrition survey.A suburban district of Brazzaville (capital of the Congo).A random sample of nursing mothers and their 5 months old infants (n = 102). Data collection procedures: The mothers were questioned on their socio-economic status, dietary habits, and their body mass index (BMI) was measured. Breast milk samples were collected from each mother. Milk lipid content and fatty acid composition were determined.Compared with milk from various countries, Congolese women's mature breast milk…

The development of oral feeding skills in infants.

2012

Appropriate nutritional intake is a major component of growth in infants. Interests in nutrition customarily have been centered on the types of nutrients and caloric intake offered, for example, the benefits of mother's milk over that of formula, presence/absence of growth factors, and potential advantages provided by probiotics early in life [1, 2]. An important component of infant nutrition that has been overlooked until recently is the ability of infants to take their nutrients by mouth safely and successfully. As the majority of healthy term newborns are readily taken to the breast or bottle soon after birth, the ability to feed by mouth generally does not raise concern. However, over t…

Interactive Guidance Intervention to Address Sustained Social Withdrawal in Preterm Infants in Chile: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

2020

Background Preterm newborns can be exposed early to significant perinatal stress, and this stress can increase the risk of altered socioemotional development. Sustained social withdrawal in infants is an early indicator of emotional distress which is expressed by low reactivity to the environment, and if persistent, is frequently associated with altered psychological development. Infants born prematurely have a higher probability of developing sustained social withdrawal (adjusted odds ratio 1.84, 95% CI 1.04-3.26) than infants born full term, and there is a correlation between weight at birth and sustained social withdrawal at 12 months of age. Objective The aims of this study are to comp…

Modifying the texture of foods for infants and young children

2015

The first section of this chapter describes the evolutions in oral physiology (anatomical motor components, oral motor skills and feeding skills) in healthy children (< 3 years). The second section describes how each type of texture is accepted at each oral physiology stage, and how exposures to textures impact oral physiology development and acceptability of textures. The third section shows how the need to modify food texture for infant foods is addressed, through national regulations or recommendations from public health bodies, and describes practices of texture modification, based on national surveys and case reports (including baby-led weaning). The chapter is closed by a commentary o…

Tryptophan immunoadsorption during pregnancy and breastfeeding in patients with acute relapse of multiple sclerosis and neuromyelitis optica.

2017

Background: Up to every fourth woman with multiple sclerosis (MS) or neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) suffers a clinically relevant relapse during pregnancy. High doses of steroids bear some serious risks, especially within the first trimester of pregnancy. Immunoadsorption (IA) is an effective and more selective treatment option in disabling MS relapse than plasma exchange. Data on the use of IA during pregnancy and breastfeeding are scarce. Methods: In this retrospective multicenter study, we analyzed the safety and efficacy of IA treatment in acute relapses during pregnancy or breastfeeding. The primary outcome parameter - change of acute relapse-related disability after IA…
