Univerzitné vzdelanie. Čitateľská gramotnosť: stúdia o čítaní s porozumením v univerzitnom kontexte
2015
One of the strategic and ambitious goals at the Lisbon Summit is to attain the best possible quality of teaching and learning processes. One of the key academic competencies generating knowledge for the current information society is the reading literacy. The main goal of our pre-research project is to carry out a pilot study on reading literacy of the first year students at Alexander Dubcek University of Trencin, to identify their reading literacy level, and their ability to comprehend and work effectively with academic texts, and last but not least to identify their reading literacy deficiencies. The pre-research project will serve as a basis for a follow-up in-depth comparative research.…
Teacher Training and Linguistic Diversity: Methodological and Outcome Analysis of an Online Course
2022
This research aims to delve into sociolinguistic content in the context of teacher training itineraries at the Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain). Using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, the presence of sociolinguistic content will be justified. Likewise, we will analyze the contents and methodology of the subject based on the access data to the materials and the evaluation of the students. The results obtained refer both in terms of the importance of dealing with linguistic attitudes in class and of assessing the tool itself and some of the students' work habits, which we can extrapolate to others similar training environments, in order to extract good practices.
Modelling in Physics: A matter of experience?
2012
This study is focused on analyzing experimental results obtained due the use of different types of problem statements. It analyzes characteristics of problem-solving processes in subjects who have different levels of experience in solving physics problems. The problem-solving process is assumed as a process of modeling where different levels of representations are built. It is proposed a comprehension model for Physics problem-solving that assumes the existence of three levels of representation with different ontological elements and different levels of abstraction: A Situation Model (referential, non-abstract world representation of objects and events), a Conceptual-Physics Model (abstract…

River ecosystems receive and process vast quantities of terrestrial organic carbon, the fate of which depends strongly on microbial activity. Variation in and controls of processing rates, however, are poorly characterized at the global scale. In response, we used a peer-sourced research network and a highly standardized carbon processing assay to conduct a global-scale field experiment in greater than 1000 river and riparian sites. We found that Earth’s biomes have distinct carbon processing signatures. Slow processing is evident across latitudes, whereas rapid rates are restricted to lower latitudes. Both the mean rate and variability decline with latitude, suggesting temperature constrai…
Separation of halloysite/kaolinite mixtures in water controlled by sucrose addition: The influence of the attractive forces on the sedimentation beha…
2022
In this work, we propose an easy strategy for the separation of halloysite/kaolinite mixtures in sucrose aqueous solution. Preliminarily, we investigated the influence of the sucrose addition on the colloidal stability of kaolinite nanoplates and halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) dispersed in water. Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) measurements revealed that the HNTs aqueous mobility is dependent on the sucrose concentration, while the ζ-potential is negligibly affected by the addition of the carbohydrate in the aqueous solvent. On the other hand, any variations on the surface charge and dynamic behavior of kaolinite were detected in the presence of sucrose. The obtained ζ-potential and DLS results…
