The research validity of using clips as audiovisual material to teach a foreign language has been demonstrated by many scholars. At the same time, the combination of this material with two modalities of audiovisual translation (AVT ) - subtitling and dubbing- is worth exploring. The aim of this study is to present the effectiveness of subtitling and dubbing activities as tools for teaching English as a foreign language. This article is an attempt of applying the conversational analysis to planned texts through a Caribbean work of the 18th. century called Historia de la conquista de la isla española de Santo Domingo. L'aprenentatge de la llengua escrita és un procés complex en què interaccionen diversos factors. El punt de partença amb què iniciem aquest article relaciona l'ensenyament d'elements gramaticals, com són els connectors, amb la producció textual d'infants de segon curs d'Educació Primària. En la investigació, que es duu a terme en situació d'aula, s'ha triat com a dispositiu una seqüència didàctica tot tenint en compte el model de l'escola de Ginebra. La mediació elegida demostra, d'una banda, que resulta possible i eficaç introduir aquests sabers gramaticals a l'inici de l'escolarització i, de l'altra, que la intervenció ajuda a millorar els textos dels infants.

Regarding the teaching of Catalan, four textbooks were created in the 1970s and 80s, which included a complete work of literature, with numerous grammar and lexical commentaries, and exercises about the literary text. The author who is the link between these books is the grammarian Albert Jané i Riera, a writer and linguist who has been a leading figure in Catalan culture as the editor of the children's magazine Cavall Fort. Based on some literary extracts (autobiographical prose and poetry) of the Valencian writer Josep Piera, the relationship between the experience of the journey and the writing that comes along as a result of it is analyzed. Three key concepts are discussed : the journey, the Mediterranean and literature. As we will see, the Mediterranean is understood here as a close and familiar world : a mythical, historical, cultural and vital geographical space. The places visited (Greece, Naples, Sicily, etc.) interact and produce a dialogue with the geographical space and the notion of human time.
