Kinematics, deformation partitioning and late Variscan magmatism in the Agly massif, Eastern Pyrenees, France

International audience; In order to constrain the finite deformation pattern of the Variscan basement of the Agly massif, a detailed structural analysis over the whole Agly massif was performed. Our investigation combined geological mapping, reappraisal of published and unpublished data completed with our own structural work. Results are provided in the form of new tectonic maps and series of regional cross-sections through the Agly massif. At variance from previous studies, we identified three deformation fabrics named D1, D2 and D3. Economics of mixed-species forestry with ecosystem services

The Faustmann–Hartman setup is widely established for specifying the economics of forest values besides timber, but it is criticized as restrictive for capturing diversity values. We show that extending the model to cover diversity attributes, i.e., mixed species and internal heterogeneity within species, is not enough to overcome these restrictions. Additionally, it is necessary to extend forest harvesting regimes to cover thinning, continuous cover forestry, and the management of commercially useless trees. Our objective was to relate the bolus properties (fragmentation, moisture content and viscosity) of chewed extruded pea snacks to their structure. Flower abscission in Vitis vinifera L. triggered by gibberellic acid and shade discloses differences in the underlying metabolic pathways

Understanding abscission is both a biological and an agronomic challenge. Flower abscission induced independently by shade and gibberellic acid (GAc) sprays was monitored in grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) growing under a soilless greenhouse system during two seasonal growing conditions, in an early and late production cycle. Physiological and metabolic changes triggered by each of the two distinct stimuli were determined. Environmental conditions exerted a significant effect on fruit set as showed by the higher natural drop rate recorded in the late production cycle with respect to the early cycle. Cellulose ether emulsions as fat source in cocoa creams: Thermorheological properties (flow and viscoelasticity)

Flow behaviour and viscoelastic properties at three different temperatures (20, 45 and 70 °C) of cocoa filling creams have been studied. These creams were composed of cocoa, starch, sugar, skimmed milk powder and non-digestible cellulose ether emulsions as fat source. Two types of methylcelluloses, MC, and two types of hydroxypropyl methylcelluloses, HPMC, with different chemical substitution degrees were employed. Abstract Applying Circular Economy strategies is mandatory to face material demand while minimizing the environmental impact. Manufacturing processes are to be thought as means to enable material/component reuse strategies. Abstract Changes in yield and quality of fresh tomatoes in response to air vapour pressure deficit (VPD) and plant fruit load were studied under Mediterranean summer conditions. Plants thinned to three or six fruits per truss were grown in two compartments, one at a VPD below 1.5 kPa, the other without VPD control.
