Cluster tilting for one-dimensional hypersurface singularities
2008
In this article we study Cohen-Macaulay modules over one-dimensional hypersurface singularities and the relationship with the representation theory of associative algebras using methods of cluster tilting theory. We give a criterion for existence of cluster tilting objects and their complete description by homological methods, using higher almost split sequences and results from birational geometry. We obtain a large class of 2-CY tilted algebras which are finite dimensional symmetric and satisfy $\tau^2=\id$. In particular, we compute 2-CY tilted algebras for simple and minimally elliptic curve singularities.
Influence of Dynamics on The Analysis of Solid-State NMR Data From Membrane-bound Peptides
2009
By isotope labeling of membrane-bound peptides, typically with 2H, 19F, or 15N, solid-state NMR experiments can yield data from which the orientation of peptides in a native membrane environment can be determined. Such an orientation is defined by a tilt angle and an azimuthal rotation angle. Here we show that to obtain correct values of the orientation angles, it is important to include dynamics in the analysis of the NMR data. Nevertheless the effects of dynamics are different depending on the type of isotope labeling and NMR experiment considered. To analyze the influence of dynamics in detail, we generated virtual NMR observables using a model peptide undergoing explicit Gaussian fluctuat…
A new method to evaluate the influence of the glenosphere positioning on stability and range of motion of a reverse shoulder prosthesis
2019
Abstract Purpose Shoulder instability and reduced range of motion are two common complications of a total reverse shoulder arthroplasty. In this work, a new approach is proposed to estimate how the glenoid component positioning can influence the stability and the range of motion of a reverse shoulder prosthesis. Materials and methods A standard reverse shoulder prosthesis has been analysed. To perform virtual simulation of the shoulder-prosthesis assembly, all the components of the prosthesis have been acquired via a 3D laser scanner and the solid models of the shoulder bones have been reconstructed through CT images. Loads on the shoulder joint have been estimated using anatomical models d…
An Empirical Mode Decomposition Approach to Assess the Strength of Heart Period-Systolic Arterial Pressure Variability Interactions.
2020
This work proposes an empirical mode decomposition (EMD) method to assess the strength of the interactions between heart period (HP) and systolic arterial pressure (SAP) variability. EMD was exploited to decompose the original series (OR) into its first, and fastest, intrinsic mode function (IMF1) and the residual (RES) computed by subtracting the IMF1 from OR. EMD procedure was applied to both HP and SAP variability series. Then, the cross correlation function (CCF) was computed over OR, IMF1 and RES series derived from HP and SAP variability in 13 healthy subjects (age 27±8 yrs, 5 males) at rest in supine position (REST) and during head-up tilt (TILT). The first CCF maximum at negative ti…
Investigation of inhibitors for the SARS-CoV-2 methyltransferase nsp14
2022
SARS-CoV-2 parādījās 2019. gada nogalē un ātri vien kļuva par nopietnu draudu sabiedrības veselībai, radot vajadzību pēc terapeitiskiem līdzekļiem tā izraisītās slimības Covid-19 ārstēšanai. Viens variants ir radīt potentu inhibitoru pret kādu no proteīniem, kas nepieciešams vīrusa dzīves cikla īstenošanai. Potenciāls mērķis ir nestrukturālais proteīns 14 (nsp14), kura metiltransferāzes aktivitāte svarīga vīrusa mRNS stabilitātei un translācijai. Darba mērķis bija iegūt aktīvu SARS-CoV-2 nsp14/nsp10 kompleksu un, veicot KMR fragmentu skrīningu, meklēt savienojumus, kas saistās tā metiltransferāzes aktīvajā centrā (S- adenozil-L-metionīna (SAM) saistīšanas kabatā). Pētījuma ietvaros E. coli …
Interaction between seismicity and deformation on different time scales in volcanic areas: Campi Flegrei and Stromboli
2019
We study oscillations recorded at Stromboli and Campi Flegrei by different sensors: seismometers, strainmeters and tiltmeters. We examine both the high-frequency (>0.5 Hz) portion of the spectrum and very long period signals up to tidal scales. In this context, seismicity and deformation are investigated on different time scales (from minutes to days/years) in order to identify the basic elements of their interaction, whose understanding should provide new insights on the predictive models. In this work, the strict relation of tides and volcanic processes is shown. At Stromboli, indeed the transition from the stationary phase to the non-stationary phase seems to have a tidal precu…

Pedestrian Tracking in 360 Video by Virtual PTZ Cameras
2018
Since the data acquired by a PTZ camera change while adjusting the pan, tilt and zoom parameters, the results of tracking algorithms are difficult to reproduce; such diffi- culty limits the development and the comparison of tracking algorithms with PTZ cameras. The recently introduced 360- degree cameras acquire spherical views of the environment, generally stored as equirectangular images. Each pixel of an equirectangular image corresponds to a point on the spherical surface. A gnomonic projection can be used to project the points on the spherical surface onto a plane tangent to the sphere. Such tangent plane can be interpreted as the image plane of a virtual PTZ camera oriented towards th…
Input for baroreflex analysis: which blood pressure signal should be used?
2022
The baroreflex (BR) is an important physiological regulatory mechanism which reacts to blood pressure perturbations with reflex changes of target variables such as the heart period (electrocardiogram derived RR interval) or the peripheral vascular resistance (PVR). Evaluation of cardiac chronotropic (RR as a target variable) and vascular resistance (target PVR) BR arms was in previous studies mainly based on the use of the spontaneous variability of the systolic or diastolic blood pressure (SBP, DBP), respectively, as the input signals. The use of other blood pressure measures such as the mean blood pressure (MBP) as an input signal for BR analysis is still under investigation. Making the a…
