Bladder tumours in children: An interesting case report of TCC with a partial inverted growth pattern.

2014

Bladder urothelial carcinoma is typically a disease of older individuals and rarely occurs below the age of 40 years. There is debate and uncertainty in the literature regarding the clinicopathologic and prognostic characteristics of bladder urothelial neoplasms in younger patients compared with older patients, although no consistent age criteria have been used to define "younger" age group categories. We report on a 16 years old girl with transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder with a partial inverted growth pattern who presented with gross hematuria. Ultrasonography revealed a papillary lesion in the bladder; cystoscopic evaluation showed a 15 mm papillary lesion with a thick stalk loc…

Trapped? Exploring the lives of young women in France and England who are labelled NEET and economically inactive

2021

International audience; Through a comparison of France and the UK, this paper analyses the position of young women who are defined as not in education, employment or training (NEET) and economically inactive (EI). Little is known about the NEET EI group and how this status shapes young people’s lives during school-to-work transition. Consequently, the NEET EI group remains a ‘hidden’ problem in many countries and impacts to a much greater extent on young women, due to their propensity to assume caring responsibilities. Despite France and the UK having very different types of policy intervention and welfare support, there are similarities between them in terms of NEET EI populations and the …

Seven years of youth transition to work before and during the economic crisis in France

2017

International audience; The transition from school-to-work is a process structured by demand for labour, employer behaviour, public policy measures and structural employment changes. However youths experience also other temporalities, that are context related, and that take place in a given country at the beginning of their working careers. In general youths entering the labour market are overexposed to economic fluctuations (Fondeur and Minni, 2004). The aim of this paper is to identify the consequences of the 2008 financial crisis in France, by comparing the trajectories of two youth cohorts over seven years. We use labour market segmentation theory developed by Doeringer and Piore (1971)…
