Characterization of some triphenyltin(IV) complexes of 5-(arylazo)salicylaldehyde ligands using IR, 1H, 13C, 119Sn NMR and 119Sn Mössbauer spectrosco…
1994
Abstract Coordination complexes of 5-(arylazo)salicylaldehyde with triphenyltin chloride have been prepared and subjected to IR, multinuclear NMR (1H, 13C, 119Sn) and 119Sn Mossbauer spectroscopy. 5-(Arylazo)salicylaldehyde forms two types of complexes viz. triorganotin adducts and phenoxides. In the adducts, the protonated ligand coordinates through the aldehydic oxygen atom while in phenoxides, the coordination occurs via the phenolic oxygen atom and the oxygen atom of the aldehydic group. The spectroscopic data suggest that both types of complexes adopt a cis-trigonal bipyramidal geometry around tin.
An efficient synthesis of uracil derivatives from 2-alkyl-Δ2-oxazolines and nitriles
2008
An efficient and convenient synthesis of new fluorinated and non-fluorinated uracils is described herein. The condensation of nitriles with enolates generated from 2-alkyl-Δ 2 -oxazolines (I) affords fluorinated β-enamino acid derivatives, which react with triphosgene to give an isomeric mixture of oxazolopyrimidinones. These can then be easily transformed into a single C-6 pyrimidindione derivative through reaction with a suitable nucleophile.

Conformation of tert-butoxycarbonylglycyl-dehydroalanyl-glycine methyl ester in the crystalline state and calculated in the gas phase.
2006
tert-Butoxycarbonylglycyl-dehydroalanyl-glycine methyl ester (systematic name: methyl {2-[(tert-butoxycarbonylamino)acetamido]prop-2-enamido}acetate) (Boc0-Gly1-ΔAla2-Gly3-OMe), C13H21N3O6, has been structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and by density functional theory (DFT) calculations at the B3LYP/6–311+G** level. The peptide chain in both the solid-state and calculated structures adopts neither β nor γ turns. All amino acid residues in the tripeptide sequence are linked trans to each other. The bond lengths and valence angles of the amino acid units in the crystal structure and gas phase are comparable. However, the conformation of the third glycyl residue (…
Toward Understanding the Photochemistry of Photoactive Yellow Protein: A CASPT2/CASSCF and Quantum Theory of Atoms in Molecules Combined Study of a M…
2009
Photochemical processes that take place in biological molecules have become an increasingly important research topic for both experimentalists and theoreticians. In this work, we report the reaction mechanism of a model of the photoactive yellow protein (PYP) chromophore in vacuo. The results obtained here, using a strategy based on the simultaneous use of the minimum energy path concept and the quantum theory of atoms in molecules applied to this excited state process, suggest a possible way in which the protein could increase the efficiency of the reaction. The role played by other electronic states of the same and different spin multiplicities in the reaction process is also analyzed, wi…
On the biochemical classification of yeast trehalases: Candida albicans contains two enzymes with mixed features of neutral and acid trehalase activi…
2009
Abstract Two enzymes endowed with trehalase activity are present in Candida albicans . The cytosolic trehalase (Ntc1p), displayed high activity in exponential phase regardless of the carbon source (glucose, trehalose or glycerol). Ntc1p activity was similar in neutral (pH 7.1) or acid (pH 4.5) conditions, strongly inhibited by ATP, weakly stimulated by divalent cations (Ca 2+ or Mn 2+ ) and unaffected in the presence of cyclic AMP. The Ntc1p activity decreased in stationary phase, except in glycerol-grown cultures, but the catalytic properties did not change. In turn, the cell wall-linked trehalase (Atc1p) showed elevated activity in resting cells or in cultures growing on trehalose or glyc…
In vivo digestibility and nutritive value of Atriplex halimus alone and mixed with wheat straw
2002
In vivo digestibility trials were carried out using six young rams fed with Atriplex halimus biomass harvested in summer (A) and in early autumn (B), and with a mixture of mid-autumn Atriplex halimus and wheat straw (5[ratio ]1 ratio on fresh matter basis) (C). Atriplex halimus had a high protein content (139·0, 135·9 and 193·4 g/kg DM in A, B and C respectively), but was rich in sodium chloride, especially in summer (145·9 g/kg DM), limiting its use as feed. The summer forage had a higher organic matter (OM) digestibility coefficient than the autumn forage (0·663 v. 0·530) but lower digestible OM intake (16·8 v. 29·4 g/day per kg BW0·75). In autumn forage, the combination with straw did no…
An Uncommon Pathway in the Biosynthesis of Acetylenic Fatty Acids in Mosses
1995
Although more than 600 acetylenic compounds of various structures have been found in plants [1], hardly anything is known about the formation of the triple bonds. The acetylenes so far known from Bryophytes, have been identified as long chain fatty acids with a characteristic arrangement of one triple bond and one to three double bonds.
Einführung einer Dreifachbindung in das Bicyclo[6.1.0]nonan-Gerüst
1987
Introduction of a Triple Bond into the Bicyclo[6.1.0]nonane Skeleton The introduction of a triple bond into the bicyclo[6.1.0]nonane skeleton is investigated by applying the selenadiazole method to the ketones 1a–c, accessible on different pathways. The highly strained bicyclo[6.1.0]no…
A tetramethoxybenzophenone as efficient triplet photocatalyst for the transformation of diazo compounds.
2007
The aromatic ketone 2,2',4,4'-tetramethoxybenzophenone has a strong absorption band between 300 and 375 nm, and its pi,pi* triplet excited-state is selectively populated in methanol. Both facts make this aromatic ketone a versatile and efficient triplet photocatalyst for the transformation of alpha-diazo carbonyl compounds into mainly the cyclopropanation product.
