Smooth muscles are such a remarkably diverse group of tissues that the difference in properties between any two of them may be as great as between a smooth muscle and a striated muscle. Effects of ATP, adenosine and purinoceptor antagonists on field stimulation-evoked (3 Hz, 2 min) [3H]-noradrenaline overflow were investigated in the rat isolated iris. ATP and adenosine inhibited the evoked overflow of [3H]-noradrenaline. 1,3-Dipropyl-8-cyclopentylxanthine (DPCPX) shifted the concentration-response curve of ATP to the right in a concentration-dependent manner, but with a potency (-log KB = 7.88) much lower than expected for an A1 adenosine receptor. In the continuous presence of DPCPX, the ATP-induced prejunctional inhibition was unaffected by suramin (100 mumol/l) and DIDS (4,4'-diisothiocyanatostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid, 50 mumol/l) but was antagonized by the P2Y-rece…

To clarify the function of P2 receptor subtypes in mouse stomach, the motor responses to ATP, alpha,beta-methyleneATP (alpha,beta-MeATP), P2X receptor agonist, 2-methylthioATP (2-MeSATP), P2Y receptor agonist, and the effects of the desensitisation of P2X receptors with alpha,beta-MeATP and of P2Y receptors with ADPbetaS were analysed recording the endoluminal pressure from whole-organ. The quantification of a variety of elements in the field of ICP-MS is restricted by isobaric interferences. The recent development of ICP-MS/MS (“triple quadrupole” configuration) offers a new way to solve the problem of the detection of such elements affected by interferences because the signal caused by either the analyte or the isobaric interference can be shifted to another m/z through reactions with the cell gas (oxygen, ammonia or hydrogen). International audience; Molecular semiconductor–doped insulator (MSDI) heterojunctions were designed using a new family of sublayers, namely triphenodioxazines (TPDO). The device obtained by combining the tetracyano triphenodioxazine bearing two triisopropylsilylethynyl moieties as a sublayer with the lutetium bisphthalocyanine (LuPc2) as a top layer showed a nonlinear current–voltage characteristic independent of the sign of the polarization, which is the signature of MSDI heterojunctions. Abstract The influence of deposited silver upon the photocatalytic activity of titania in the rutile and anatase allotropic forms has been studied in three different reactions. The common feature found for these three reactions was an electron transfer from illuminated TiO 2 to silver particles. Abstract The photoelectrocatalytic (PEC) oxidation of 3-pyridinemethanol to 3-pyridinemethanal and vitamin B3 was investigated by using Pt, Au and Pd loaded (as single or bimetallic) nanotube structured TiO2 on Ti plate in water under UVA irradiation. Nanotube structured TiO2 on Ti plate samples were prepared as anode by anodic oxidation method in ethylene glycol solution in different times, and then they were calcined at 500 °C to be obtained in crystalline form.
