Solid-state electrochemical methods have been applied to the establishment of patterns of plant growth and response to saline stress using seedlings of Inula helenium L., Dittrichia viscosa (L.) Greuter (Inula viscosa (L.) Aiton), Limbarda crithmoides (L.) Dumort (Inula crithmoides L.). Upon in situ electrochemical generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) the reactivity with such species was monitored using voltammetric signals associated to the oxidation of polyphenolic components of the plants. The molecule of the title compound {systematic name:N-[(benzothiazol-2-yl)methylidene]methylamineN-oxide}, C9H8N2OS, is close to planar [maximum deviation from the mean plane = 0.081 (2) Å], its conformation being stabilized by a strong intramolecular attractive S...O interaction [2.6977 (16) Å]. In the crystal, molecules are linked into centrosymmetric dimers by pairs of weak C—H...O hydrogen bonds.

Il progetto si inserisce nell'ambito della ricerca nazionale coordinata da Luigi Ramazzotti dal titolo "Dalla campagna urbanizzata alla città in estensione: le norme compositive dell'architettura del territorio dei centri minori". In una delle aree selezionate dall'Unità di Palermo si sviluppa il progetto di un ampio parco agricolo in prossimità dell'aeroporto, e si fa carico di svelare misconosciuti belvedere tra monte Pecoraro e la Tonnara Orsa. L'architettura stabilisce la continuità tra il sistema infrastrutturale e parco agricolo, in virtù della trasparenza dell'attacco al suolo, configurando una piazza sopraelevata che raduna da tutti i suoi punti di vista il paesaggio circostante.

Portable neuroimaging technologies can be employed for long-term monitoring of neurophysiological and neuropathological states. Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) and Electroencephalography (EEG) are highly suited for such a purpose. Their multimodal integration allows the evaluation of hemodynamic and electrical brain activity together with neurovascular coupling. An innovative fNIRS-EEG system is here presented. This paper examines the results of the characterization of two functional composites: Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)-Ce:YAG (yttrium aluminium garnet doped with cerium) and PMMA-cobalt hexacyanoferrate (CoHCF). The composites were prepared as possible emitters in the fields of lighting thermal sensors. Significant progress in nonlinear and ultrafast optics has recently opened new and exciting opportunities for terahertz (THz) science and technology, which require the development of reliable THz sources, detectors, and supporting devices. In this work, we demonstrate the first solid-state technique for the coherent detection of ultra-broadband THz pulses (0.1-10 THz), relying on the electric-field-induced second-harmonic generation in a thin layer of ultraviolet fused silica.
