Competencies in ICT of teachers and their relation to the use of the technological resources
2010
Over the past decade the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have represented a transformation of education policies that have entailed important investments. However, the teacher, as a key element in the integration process of ICT, still does not feel trusted this process. One of the most outstanding causes of this deficit confidence is the lack of teaching staff competence in the ICT. Therefore, the aim of this paper is a study of the teachers’ competence on ICT and their relation to the use being made of these technologies, both professional-personal and with their students. For it a survey design has been used. The target population constitutes the teaching staff of centers…
Student-Teachers’ And School-Based Teacher Educators’ Beliefs About Teaching Practices And Instructional Goals
2015
Beliefs about teaching are integrated into teaching practices and instructional goals that impact teachers’ professional development. The aim of the research was to identify the beliefs that student-teachers and school-based teacher educators have about the development of pupils’ cognitive and social competences. First-year student-teachers and school-based teacher educators completed a questionnaire. The results revealed that the teachers’ beliefs vary according to their teaching experience. The student teachers preferred practices that were aimed at mechanical acquisition. The teacher educators’ choices of teaching practices were aimed at developing the pupils’ learning competences and th…

[EN] The objective of this proposal for educational innovation is to facilitate the learning of complex concepts and their relationship with reality, through peer-to-peer training, in where two scenarios will be shared: university and professional training. We propose an experience in which University students in the area of Electronic Technology and Health, specifically from the degrees of Industrial Electronics Engineering, Physiotherapy and Nursing, previously trained in the concepts of radiation and its types, infrared radiation, its use in health in both treatment and diagnosis, thermoregulation and thermography with the visual thinking tool, can transversally share a teaching scenario…
Enabling the full participation of university students with disabilities: seeking best practices for a barrier-free language centre
2015
Recent research has shown that 3.4% of university students in Finland have a diagnosed or observed illness or disability that affects their learning at the university level. The University of Jyväskylä Language Centre embarked on an organised, ongoing research and intervention project to enable appropriate teaching practices to suit the needs of all students. The process, thus far, has shown there is a need to clarify the rights and obligations of students and teachers to enable an atmosphere of mutual trust. A survey of the Language Centre teachers showed that all had taught students with disabilities during their university careers. Teachers wanted more information about disabilities, suc…
Spanish Curriculum in Cariology for undergraduate dental students: Proceedings and consensus.
2021
INTRODUCTION Cariology is today a broad-based discipline and in the Spanish university teaching field, all this knowledge is not unified in a curriculum. Therefore, the aim was to develop a consensus text based on the European Core Curriculum, updated, and adapted to the characteristics of the Spanish university environment. MATERIALS AND METHODS A Spanish Cariology Curriculum Group (SCCG) was set up with members of the Spanish Society of Epidemiology and Oral Public Health (SESPO), Spanish Society of Conservative and Aesthetic Dentistry (SEOC) and Spanish Society of Paediatric Dentistry (SEOP) and university experts to adapt the European Core Curriculum in Cariology for undergraduate denta…
Teaching on Hybrid Courses : Insights from Commercial Online ICT-Training
2018
Information and communication technology (ICT) has evolved rapidly during the last decades. These technological advancements have enabled new ways of teaching and learning, such as online courses, where students attend training using their own computer equipment. Previous studies have shown that the student satisfaction and learning outcomes do not differ between the classroom and online students. However, our previous study conducted on hybrid courses, where part of the students was present in a classroom and part are participating online, revealed some issues related to teaching methods and technical difficulties. In this study, we researched how teachers of a commercial ICT-training orga…

2005
This paper presents a study on thinking and learning processes of mathematics and science in teaching through a foreign language, in Finland. The entity of thinking and content learning processes is, in this study, considered as cognitional development. CLIL refers to all those diverse programmes, including some forms of immersion and bilingual education, where a foreign language is a medium of instruction, affecting the entire learning process of the learner. Thinking and content learning in CLIL manifests itself as analogical CLIL reasoning systems, based on two languages, and is assumed t…
Metacognitive Awareness Teaching Tool Kit (MATTK). Reflective teaching for critical thinking and creativity development in classroom.
2016
Situation awareness has long been recognized as an important variable in teacher performance. Research to date has focused on identifying characteristics of situation awareness for individuals, not on the behaviors and processes associated with situation awareness. The purpose of this review is to delineate and identify characteristics of teacher metacognitive awareness. In addition, implications are discussed and research questions are outlined that target the measurement and training of situation awareness. The research has examined the positive correlation between the meta cognitive awareness of teachers and the development of two soft skills (critical thinking and creativity) in student…
