Numerical study of broadband spectra caused by internal shocks in magnetized relativistic jets of blazars

The internal-shocks scenario in relativistic jets has been used to explain the variability of blazars' outflow emission. Recent simulations have shown that the magnetic field alters the dynamics of these shocks producing a whole zoo of spectral energy density patterns. However, the role played by magnetization in such high-energy emission is still not entirely understood. With the aid of \emph{Fermi}'s second LAT AGN catalog, a comparison with observations in the $\gamma$-ray band was performed, in order to identify the effects of the magnetic field.
The 1.4 mm core of Centaurus A: First VLBI results with the South Pole Telescope

Centaurus A (Cen A) is a bright radio source associated with the nearby galaxy NGC 5128 where high-resolution radio observations can probe the jet at scales of less than a light-day. The South Pole Telescope (SPT) and the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX) performed a single-baseline very-long-baseline interferometry (VLBI) observation of Cen A in January 2015 as part of VLBI receiver deployment for the SPT. We measure the correlated flux density of Cen A at a wavelength of 1.4 mm on a $\sim$7000 km (5 G$\lambda$) baseline. High energy emission from young stars with disks, with all their components due to accretion and outflow activity, can have a deep impact on the evolution of their disks and on the formation of exo-planetary systems. An inter-disciplinary approach, which combines multi-wavelength observations, magnetohydrodynamical models, and laboratory experiments, allows us to get a more complete description of the accretion/ejection phenomena characterizing young stars. We discuss the case of the HH 154 jet, its X-ray emission localized at the base of the jet and its complex morphology, comparing observations, models, and laser experiments. Nuclear medium effects in structure functions

We discuss the nuclear-medium effects in the weak structure functions F2(x,Q2) and F3,(x,Q2) in the charged current neutrino and antineutrino induced deep inelastic reactions in some nuclei which are being used in the present or proposed neutrino oscillation experiments. Our study of the medium effects has been done using relativistic nuclear spectral functions which incorporates Fermi motion, binding energy and nucleon correlations. We also consider the pion and rho meson cloud contributions calculated from a microscopic model for meson-nucleus self-energies. Summary. I offer a brief review of the evolution and present status of our observational knowledge of the high-redshift Universe. In particular, I focus on the different methods that have been devised to select distant objects, and the observational evidence in hand to support (or else) the standard evolutionary scenario. 1 How High is High? Temperature Distribution of a Non-flaring Active Region from Simultaneous Hinode XRT and EIS Observations

We analyze coordinated Hinode XRT and EIS observations of a non-flaring active region to investigate the thermal properties of coronal plasma taking advantage of the complementary diagnostics provided by the two instruments. In particular we want to explore the presence of hot plasma in non-flaring regions. Independent temperature analyses from the XRT multi-filter dataset, and the EIS spectra, including the instrument entire wavelength range, provide a cross-check of the different temperature diagnostics techniques applicable to broad-band and spectral data respectively, and insights into cross-calibration of the two instruments. β decay of the very neutron-deficient Ge60 and Ge62 nuclei

We report here the results of a study of the $\beta$ decay of the proton-rich Ge isotopes, $^{60}$Ge and $^{62}$Ge, produced in an experiment at the RIKEN Nishina Center. We have improved our knowledge of the half-lives of $^{62}$Ge (73.5(1) ms), $^{60}$Ge (25.0(3) ms) and its daughter nucleus, $^{60}$Ga (69.4(2) ms). We measured individual $\beta$-delayed proton and $\gamma$ emissions and their related branching ratios. Decay schemes and absolute Fermi and Gamow-Teller transition strengths have been determined. The mass excesses of the nuclei under study have been deduced. A total $\beta$-delayed proton-emission branching ratio of 67(3)% has been obtained for $^{60}$Ge. New information has…
Structural Variability of 3C 111 on Parsec Scales

We discuss the parsec-scale structural variability of the extragalactic jet 3C111 related to a major radio flux density outburst in 2007. The data analyzed were taken within the scope of the MOJAVE, UMRAO, and F-GAMMA programs, which monitor a large sample of the radio brightest compact extragalactic jets with the VLBA, the University of Michigan 26 m, the Effelsberg 100 m, and the IRAM 30m radio telescopes. The analysis of the VLBA data is performed by fitting Gaussian model components in the visibility domain.
