Taidekasvatuksen määritelmä on sekä akateemisessa että yhteiskunnallisessa (julkisessa/poliittisessa) kontekstissa edelleen avoin. Perinteen jäsentymättömyys tarjoilee mahdollisuuksia, mutta parhaillaan taidekasvatuksen kenttää hahmottelevien puhetapojen eroavaisuudet vesittävät koko ilmiötä. Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan lähempää yhtä taidekasvatuksen perinnettä erottelemalla tätä kulttuurisen realismin perspektiivistä ja peilaamalla tutkimustuloksia muihin taiteen ja taidekasvatuksen ilmiöitä rajaaviin näkökulmiin. Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan kysymyksiä mitä on musiikkimatkailu ja minkälainen on musiikkimatkaili-ja, käyttäen aineistona kesällä 2007 Viitasaaren Musiikin aika -nusiikkifestivaalilla tehtyä kyselytutki-musta, joka pohjautui Timo Cantellin (1993) kesällä 1992 Musiikin aika -musiikkifestivaalilla tekemään kyselytutkimukseen. Tässä pro gradu -tutkielmassa tarkastellaan taideteoksen autenttisuuden ja auran nykymerkityksiä installaatiotaiteen näkökulmasta. Keskeisenä tavoitteena on selvittää, mistä kontekstisidonnaisen ja prosessuaalisen installaatioteoksen autenttisuus muodostuu, ja millä tavoin tätä autenttisuutta pyritään taidemuseoissa teoksen esittämisen ja tallentamisen prosesseissa ylläpitämään. Lisäksi tutkielmassa avataan taiteilijan intention ja tekijyyden käsitteitä. Striving for greater economic growth, requires a great understanding of the underlying factors. One of the factors may be the intellectual property rights and the level of its protection. Whether it is and how does it behave are the questions answered by this thesis. The theoretical framework comes mainly from the Schumpeterian growth model. This qualitative interview study focuses on CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) teacher agency in three European contexts, Austria, Finland and Andalusia, Spain. The aim of the study is to understand how individual CLIL teachers experience their agency when encountering challenges in their work and to demonstrate the multifaceted quality of their agency. Scaffolding through dialogic teaching in early school classrooms

The present study examines what types of dialogic teaching patterns can be identified in the early school years, and how teachers scaffold children's participation and shared understanding through dialogic teaching. Thirty recorded lessons from preschool to Grade 2 in Finnish classrooms were analysed using qualitative content analysis. Two teacher-initiated and two child-initiated dialogic teaching patterns were identified. Teacher's scaffolding in teacher-initiated dialogues was characterised by high responsibility in maintaining the interactional flow and utilisation of diverse strategies. School Detention in Finland : A Pilot Study

Although detention is one of the most popular methods of punishment in schools, it is being met with increasing criticism as an educational intervention. Few studies have explored its use to date; therefore, the present pilot study was planned to survey the popularity of detention. By analyzing a representative sample of comprehensive school teachers (N = 2,276) in Finland at grade levels 1-9, it was found that 30% of Finnish school teachers regularly use this punishment. Differences in use were observed across gender, age, and teacher category. These results provide a baseline against which future follow-up studies can be compared. peerReviewed
School and choice: An ethnography of a primary school with bilingual classes

Based on a one-year ethnographic study of a primary school in Finland with specialised classes in Finnish and English (referred to as bilingual classes by research participants), this research traces how nationed, ethnicised, classed and gendered differences are produced and gain meaning in school.
