Four new eremophilendiolides from Ligularia atroviolacea
2007
From Ligularia atroviolacea, four new eremophilendiolides, 8 beta-hydroxy-eremophil-3,7 (11)-dien-12,8 alpha(14,6 alpha)-diolide (1), 8 beta-methoxy-eremophil-3,7(11)-dien-12,8 alpha(14,6 alpha)-diolide (2), 8 alpha-hydroxy-eremophil-3,7(11)-dien-12,8 beta(14,6 alpha)-diolide (3) and eremophil-3,7(11),8-trien-12,8 (14,6 alpha)-diolide (4), as well as a known diolide (5) were isolated. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of 1D and 2D NMR as well as ESI-MS spectral data. (c) 2006 Yu Zhao. Published by Elsevier B.V. on behalf of Chinese Chemical Society. Total syntheses of (+)-temisin, (+)-melitensin and related elemanolides from (-)-artemisin
1984
Abstract (+)-Temisin, (+)-melitensin, and related sesquiterpene lactones have been synthesized from (-)-artemisin.
Eudesmane and elemane derivatives from Onopordon acaulon
1993
Abstract From the methanol extract of Onopordon acaulon 11 sesquiterpenes were isolated. Two elemane and three eudesmane derivatives are described for the first time.
Ultrasound assisted reductive cleavage of sesquiterpene γ-enonelactones
1995
Abstract Ultrasound enhances the rate of reductive cleavage of the C 6 -oxygen bond of several cis - and trans - sesquiterpene γ-enonelactones. Interestingly ultrasound overrides the stereoelectronic requirements for the reductive cleavage of the most usually occurring sesquiterpene trans -lactones.
Sesquiterpene lactones and other constituents of three Cardueae from Cyprus

New diterpenes from Sideritis sicula
1978
Abstract Two new diterpenes have been isolated from Sideritis sicula : sideripol, ent -18-acetoxy-7α-hydroxykaur-15-ene and epoxysideritriol, ent -15β,16β-epoxykauran-7α,17,18-triol. The previously known diterpene eubol, ent -7α-acetoxykaur-16-en-15β,18 diol has also been obtained from the same source.
Rearranged abietane diterpenoids from the root of teucrium polium subsp. vincentinum
1990
Abstract From the root of Teucrium polium subsp. vincentinum (Labiatae) four new rearranged abietane derivatives, teuvincenones A, B, C, and D (1-4, respectively), have been isolated. Two of these compounds, teuvincenones C (3) and D (4), possess a novel hydrocarbon skeleton which contains a cyclopropane ring constituted by the C-3, C-4, and C-18 carbons of the 17(15→16)-abeo-abietane framework. The structures of these diterpenoids were established mainly by spectroscopic means and, in the case of teuvincenones A (1) and C (3), also confirmed by X-ray diffraction analyses.

The Effect of Plant Water Status on the Chemical Composition of Pistachio Nuts (Pistacia vera L. Cultivar Bianca)
2020
Pistachio nuts are worldwide appreciated for their chemical and organoleptic profiles. There are several studies on the influence of irrigation on pistachio productivity, whereas there are little available data on the influence on nut quality. In this study we characterized some qualitative traits of pistachio nuts cultivar Bianca in Mediterranean environment and how plant water status affected them. Water status had a positive and significant influence on the chlorophylls content, nuts from less stressed trees showed higher values of chlorophyll a (14.7 mg/100 g) and b (21.1 mg/100 g) compared than more stressed trees (9.3 and 11.5 mg/100 g for a and b, respectively). Solid phase microextr…
Retinoids as a Perspective in Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease
2010
Background: In the past, we demonstrated that the disintegrin metalloproteinase ADAM10 has α-secretase activity in vitro and in cultured cells. We also found out that moderate overexpression of this proteinase inhibits Aβ peptide production and prevents the formation of amyloid plaques in an Alzheimer’s disease (AD) mouse model. Moreover, it corrects early hippocampal defects like LTP impairment and increases cortical synaptogenesis. Objective: Upregulation of ADAM10 might be an alternative approach concerning AD therapy. Our current research therefore focuses on substances and/or pathways which regulate ADAM10 gene expression. Methods:</i&g…
