Introduction The most widely used protocol for the induction of experimental allergic airway inflammation in mice involves sensitization by intraperitoneal (i.p.) injections of the antigen ovalbumin (OVA) used in conjunction with the adjuvant aluminium hydroxide (alum). Although adjuvants are frequently used, there are questions regarding the necessity of alum for murine asthma studies due to the non-physiological nature of this chemical. Induction of Type-Specific Neutralizing Antibodies by Capsomeres of Human Papillomavirus Type 33

Abstract The immunogenicity of capsomeres of human papillomavirus type 33 was evaluated in a dose–response analysis. Capsomeres were obtained free of capsids by expression of L1 carrying the single point mutation C427S. Neutralizing antibodies were detected using an in vitro pseudoinfection assay. Capsomeres induced type-specific, neutralizing antibodies in mice even in the absence of adjuvant. The neutralization titers of immune sera raised without adjuvant were 10- to 20-fold lower than those of antisera to virus-like particles, but virtually identical using Freund's adjuvant. Zespół przerostu bakteryjnego jelita cienkiego (SIBO) jest heterogennym zespołem charakteryzującym się wzrostem liczby i/lub obecnością nietypowych bakterii w jelicie cienkim. Na złożoną etiologię SIBO składają się zaburzenia ochronnych mechanizmów przeciwbakteryjnych jak zmniejszona kwaśność soku żołądkowego, zewnątrzwydzielnicza niewydolność trzustki, zespoły niedoboru odporności oraz nieprawidłowości anatomiczne jak niedrożność jelita cienkiego, uchyłki, przetoki, hirurgiczna ślepa pętla, wcześniejsze resekcje krętniczo-kątnicze oraz zaburzenia ruchliwości. Pētījuma mērķis bija novērtēt Engures ekoreģiona (Rīgas līča rietumu piekrastes) sedimentu kvalitāti, izmantojot sedimentu ekotoksicitātes testus. Lai noteiktu bioloģiskās atbildes reakcijas uz dažāda veida stresoriem, kā testorganismi pielietotas sānpeldes Monoporeia affinis and Pontogammarus robustoides, un izvēlēti biomarķieri (AChE, GST, GR, CAT, MT), kas noteikti gliemenēs Macoma balthica. Engures ekoreģionu varētu uzskatīt par nepiesārņotu rajonu, jo tā sedimentus raksturo salīdzinoši zemas smago metālu koncentrācijas. Lai izprastu išēmiska smadzeņu bojājuma izraisītās motorās komplikācijas cilvēkiem, pielieto preklīniskos uzvedības testus izmēģinājuma dzīvniekiem. Maģistra darba mērķis bija, izmantojot preklīnisku insulta modeli, izpētīt muskuļu koordinācijas un muskuļu spēka izmaiņas pelēm, pielietojot kondziela un rotarod testus, divu mēnešu periodā. Interaction of allopurinol with phenprocoumon in man.

Conditions in two patients on long-term phenprocoumon (Marcumar®) treatment are reported who had signs of phenprocoumon overdosage when given simultaneously allopurinol. The determination of phenprocoumon plasma concentrations in one patient showed that phenprocoumon accumulates for several weeks during treatment with allopurinol. Signs of phenprocoumon overdosage thus can appear long time after starting allopurinol treatment.

It has been postulated that the only reliable test is a straight leg raise test for detecting sciatic pain, and for other diagnostic subgroups, tests are of varying value.
