How Do Judgmental Overconfidence and Overoptimism Shape Innovative Activity?

Recent field evidence suggests a positive link between overconfidence and innovative activities. In this paper we argue that the connection between overconfidence and innovation is more complex than the previous literature suggests. In particular, we show theoretically and experimentally that different forms of overconfidence may have opposing effects on innovative activity. While overoptimism is positively associated with innovation, judgmental overconfidence is negatively linked to innovation. Le faune fossili plio-pleistoceniche del Valdarno (Toscana, Italia centrale) costituiscono un patrimonio di grande importanza storico-scientifica. Al fine di favorire l’accesso della collettività alle faune del Valdarno Superiore custodite presso il Museo Paleontologico di Montevarchi (Arezzo), sia al pubblico generale che agli specialisti, è stata studiata e sviluppata la Paleocarta del Valdarno Superiore, un progetto basato sulla piattaforma Google Maps e sul software gratuito Qgis. Bakalaura darba tēma ir „Iekšējās komunikācijas uzlabošanas iespējas Tūrisma attīstības valsts aģentūrā”. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir izvērtēt iekšējo komunikāciju Tūrisma attīstības valsts aģentūrā un sniegt ieteikumus tās uzlabošanai. Darba teorētiskajā daļā apskatīta teorija par iekšējo komunikāciju organizācijā, starppersonu komunikāciju, formālo un neformālo komunikāciju, komunikācijas tīkliem. Darba mērķa sasniegšanai izmantotās pētījumu metodes ir aptauja un daļēji strukturēta intervija. Bakalaura darba ietvaros apkopoti secinājumi un sniegti priekšlikumi iekšējās komunikācijas pilnveidošanai.

Il presente elaborato intende focalizzare da una parte alcuni elementi del contesto generale veneziano gravidi d’effetti – sia diretti sia indiretti – sullo sviluppo dell’arte monteverdiana, dall’altra invece quegli episodi nella vita di Monteverdi che contribuirono in maniera decisiva allo sviluppo del melodramma e del suo sistema teatrale in laguna.

Anomalous quartic gauge boson couplings at hadron colliders

We analyze the potential of the Fermilab Tevatron and CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to study anomalous quartic vector--boson interactions (photon photon Z Z) and (photon photon W+ W-). Working in the framework of SU(2)_L X U(1)_Y chiral Lagrangians, we study the production of photons pairs accompanied by (e+e-), (e nu), and jet pairs to impose bounds on these new couplings, taking into account the unitarity constraints. We compare our findings with the indirect limits coming from precision electroweak measurements as well as with presently available direct searches at LEPII. Removal of selected antibiotics and antiretroviral drugs during post‐treatment of municipal wastewater with UV, UV/chlorine and UV/hydrogen peroxide

Active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) are only partially removed by convectional wastewater treatment plants. This study aimed at assessing the post‐treatment degradation of selected antibiotics and antiretroviral drugs by direct UV photolysis and advanced oxidation processes (UV/H2O2 and UV/Cl2) using low‐pressure mercury lamp. The rate of degradation largely followed pseudo first‐order reaction kinetics. Amongst the six studied APIs, sulfamethoxazole, ciprofloxacin and zidovudine were readily degraded by more than 90% using direct UV photolysis.
