Search for AssociatedWand Higgs Boson Production inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96   TeV

2009

We present results of a search for WH -> l nu b (b) over bar production in p (p) over bar collisions based on the analysis of 1.05 fb(-1) of data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron, using a neural network for separating the signal from backgrounds. No signal-like excess is observed, and we set 95% C. L. upper limits on the WH production cross section multiplied by the branching ratio for H -> b (b) over bar for Higgs boson masses between 100 and 150 GeV. For a mass of 115 GeV, we obtain an observed (expected) limit of 1.5 (1.4) pb, a factor of 11.4 (10.7) times larger than the standard model prediction.

Search for a Resonance Decaying intoWZBoson Pairs inpp¯Collisions

We present the first search for an electrically charged resonance W' decaying to a WZ boson pair using 4.1 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron p (p) over bar collider. The WZ pairs are reconstructed through their decays into three charged leptons (l = e, mu). A total of 9 data events is observed in good agreement with the background prediction. We set 95% C.L. limits on the W'WZ coupling and on the W' production cross section multiplied by the branching fractions. We also exclude W' masses between 188 and 520 GeV within a simple extension of the standard model and set the most restrictive limits to date on low-scale technicolor models.

Search for long-lived charged massive particles with the D0 detector

No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2009-04-22 Science and Technology Facilities Council We search for long-lived charged massive particles using 1.1fb-1 of data collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron pp̄ Collider. Time-of-flight information is used to search for pair produced long-lived tau sleptons, gauginolike charginos, and Higgsino-like charginos. We find no evidence of a signal and set 95% C.L. cross section upper limits for staus, which vary from 0.31 to 0.04 pb for stau masses between 60 and 300 GeV. Search for Large Extra Spatial Dimensions in the Dielectron and Diphoton Channels inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96  TeV

We report on a search for large extra spatial dimensions in the dielectron and diphoton channels using a data sample of 1.05 \invfb of \ppb collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The invariant mass spectrum of the data agrees well with the prediction of the standard model. We find 95% C.L. lower limits on the effective Planck scale between 2.1 and 1.3 TeV for 2 to 7 extra dimensions.

Evidence for Zc±(3900) in semi-inclusive decays of b -flavored hadrons

We present evidence for the exotic charged charmoniumlike state Zc±(3900) decaying to J/ψπ± in semi-inclusive weak decays of b-flavored hadrons. The signal is correlated with a parent J/ψπ+π- system in the invariant-mass range 4.2-4.7 GeV that would include the exotic structure Y(4260). The study is based on 10.4 fb-1 of pp collision data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. © 2018 authors. Published by the American Physical Society.

Strong Evidence forZZProduction inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96  TeV

We report the first measurement of the cross section for Z boson pair production at a hadron collider. This result is based on a data sample corresponding to 1.9 fb{sup -1} of integrated luminosity from p{bar p} collisions at {radical}s = 1.96 TeV collected with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. In the {ell}{ell}{ell}{prime}{ell}{prime} channel, we observe three ZZ candidates with an expected background of 0.096{sub -0.063}{sup +0.092} events. In the {ell}{ell}{nu}{nu} channel, we use a leading-order calculation of the relative ZZ and WW event probabilities to discriminate between signal and background. Search for Pair Production of Scalar Bottom Quarks inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2006

A search for direct production of scalar bottom quarks ((b) over bar) is performed with 310 pb(-1) of data collected by the D0 experiment in p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The topology analyzed consists of two b jets and an imbalance in transverse momentum due to undetected neutralinos (chi(0)(1)), with chi(0)(1) assumed to be the lightest supersymmetric particle. We find the data consistent with standard model expectations, and set a 95% C.L. exclusion domain in the (m(b), m(chi 1)(0)) mass plane, improving significantly upon the results from run I of the Tevatron.

Search for Leptoquark Pairs Decaying intoνν+jetsinpp¯Collisions ats=1.8TeV

We present the results of a search for leptoquark (LQ) pairs in (85.2+/-3.7) pb(-1) of pp* collider data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron. We observe no evidence for leptoquark production and set a limit on sigma(pp*-->LQLQ-->nunu+jets) as a function of the mass of the leptoquark (m(LQ)). Assuming the decay LQ-->nuq, we exclude scalar leptoquarks for m(LQ) < 98 GeV/c(2), and vector leptoquarks for m(LQ) < 200 GeV/c(2) and coupling which produces the minimum cross section, at a 95% confidence level.

Search for the standard model Higgs boson in tau final states

2009

We present a search for the standard model Higgs boson using hadronically decaying tau leptons, in 1 inverse femtobarn of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron ppbar collider. We select two final states: tau plus missing transverse energy and b jets, and tau+ tau- plus jets. These final states are sensitive to a combination of associated W/Z boson plus Higgs boson, vector boson fusion and gluon-gluon fusion production processes. The observed ratio of the combined limit on the Higgs production cross section at the 95% C.L. to the standard model expectation is 29 for a Higgs boson mass of 115 GeV.

Combined Search for the Standard Model Higgs Boson Decaying tobb¯Using the D0 Run II Data Set

We present the results of the combination of searches for the standard model Higgs boson produced in association with a W or Z boson and decaying into b bbar using the data sample collected with the D0 detector in p pbar collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We derive 95% CL upper limits on the Higgs boson cross section relative to the standard model prediction in the mass range 100 GeV <= M_H <= 150 GeV, and we exclude Higgs bosons with masses smaller than 102 GeV at the 95% CL. In the mass range 120 GeV <= M_H <= 145 GeV the data exhibit an excess above the background prediction with a global significance of 1.5 standard deviations, consistent with the expectat…
