This article examines the comparisons made between Indians and Antiquity in early nineteenth-century American literature (notably in the works of Washington Irving and James Fenimore Cooper); to do so, it begins by reaching back to references in European and American writings of the eighteenth century. One of the main motivations behind the associations between Native Americans and the Ancient World made in the early decades of the nineteenth century was to “elevate” Indians in order to transform them into worthy symbols of the recently established United States. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar las imágenes que aparecen en los libros de texto de Educación Física en el tercer ciclo de Educación Primaria y comprobar si los estereotipos con respecto al género y la raza han sido eliminados en sus contenidos. Se realiza un estudio descriptivo que utiliza el análisis de contenido como técnica central de la investigación. Esta investigación tiene como objetivo diseñar una herramienta, a partir de dos sistemas de categorías validados previamente, que pudiera analizar las imágenes impresas en los libros de texto de Educación Física (EF) en la etapa de Educación Primaria. The present study aims to compare the similarities and differences of Finnish and Korean high school English textbooks and analyze them from the perspective of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) on which English textbooks of both countries are theoretically based. Contemporary culture – as already noted – is becoming more and more visual. Contemporary catechesis, referring to its rich, centuries-long experience, should also use different types of images. The first part of this article presents the visual principle as one of basic educating principles, and the second part presents the correlation between the teaching of Catholic religion, and art education in Polish schools. This article examines the contribution of education in the construction of the culture of peace in 11 educational textbooks for primary students, which were edited in the Autonomous Community of Cataluña in 2009, given that the area is the most explicitly linked to peace. A documentary study was carried out by way of the comparative methodology, along with an analysis of the content through the use of a previously designed and validated instrument favored by independent evaluators.
