Constitutive Models for the Tensile Behaviour of TRM Materials: Literature Review and Experimental Verification

In recent years, the scientific community has focused its interest on innovative inorganic matrix composite materials, namely TRM (Textile Reinforced Mortar). This class of materials satisfies the need of retrofitting existing masonry buildings, by keeping the compatibility with the substrate. Impact of fabric end-use knowledge on handle perception

Abstract The objective was to determine whether the knowledge of the fabrics' end-use may impact the way textile experts organize their haptic perception. Two groups of 10 textile experts were asked to freely sort the same set of 25 fabrics in two different contexts. The first group was informed that the set of fabrics would be used to make dresses and the other one that they would be used to make sportswear. Both groups also rated the appropriateness of each fabrics for each end-use. Results did not show any effect of the end-use context. Assessment of Arundo donax Fibers for Oil Spill Recovery Applications

In the last years, natural fibers are increasingly investigated as an oil recovery system in order to overcome the oil spillage phenomena, thus preserving environment and aquatic life. In particular, lignocellulose-based fibers have recently been employed with promising results. Cutinases: Characteristics and Insights in Industrial Production

Cutinases (EC 3.1.1.74) are serin esterases that belong to the α/β hydrolases superfamily and present in the Ser-His-Asp catalytic triad. They show characteristics between esterases and lipases. These enzymes hydrolyze esters and triacylglycerols and catalyze esterification and transesterification reactions. Cutinases are synthesize by plant pathogenic fungi, but some bacteria and plants have been found to produce cutinases as well. Abstract. Fibre Reinforced Cementitious Matrix (FRCM) composites are becoming largely adopted for retrofitting masonry structures.
