Berinde mappings in orbitally complete metric spaces
2011
Abstract We give a fixed point theorem for a self-mapping satisfying a general contractive condition of integral type in orbitally complete metric spaces. Some examples are given to illustrate our obtained result.
Transportation cost inequalities on path and loop groups
2005
AbstractLet G be a connected Lie group with the Lie algebra G. The action of Cameron–Martin space H(G) on the path space Pe(G) introduced by L. Gross (Illinois J. Math. 36 (1992) 447) is free. Using this fact, we define the H-distance on Pe(G), which enables us to establish a transportation cost inequality on Pe(G). This method will be generalized to the path space over the loop group Le(G), so that we obtain a transportation cost inequality for heat measures on Le(G).
Lineability of non-differentiable Pettis primitives
2014
Let \(X\) be an infinite-dimensional Banach space. In 1995, settling a long outstanding problem of Pettis, Dilworth and Girardi constructed an \(X\)-valued Pettis integrable function on \([0,1]\) whose primitive is nowhere weakly differentiable. Using their technique and some new ideas we show that \(\mathbf{ND}\), the set of strongly measurable Pettis integrable functions with nowhere weakly differentiable primitives, is lineable, i.e., there is an infinite dimensional vector space whose nonzero vectors belong to \(\mathbf{ND}\).
Pietsch's factorization theorem for dominated polynomials
2007
Abstract We prove that, like in the linear case, there is a canonical prototype of a p -dominated homogeneous polynomial through which every p -dominated polynomial between Banach spaces factors.
Implications of quantum automata for contextuality
2014
We construct zero error quantum finite automata (QFAs) for promise problems which cannot be solved by bounded error probabilistic finite automata (PFAs). Here is a summary of our results: There is a promise problem solvable by an exact two way QFA in exponential expected time but not by any bounded error sublogarithmic space probabilistic Turing machine (PTM). There is a promise problem solvable by an exact two way QFA in quadratic expected time but not by any bounded error o(loglogn) space PTMs in polynomial expected time. The same problem can be solvable by a one way Las Vegas (or exact two way) QFA with quantum head in linear (expected) time. There is a promise problem solvable by a Las …
Property (R) under perturbations
2012
Property (R) holds for a bounded linear operator $${T \in L(X)}$$ , defined on a complex infinite dimensional Banach space X, if the isolated points of the spectrum of T which are eigenvalues of finite multiplicity are exactly those points λ of the approximate point spectrum for which λI − T is upper semi-Browder. In this paper we consider the permanence of this property under quasi nilpotent, Riesz, or algebraic perturbations commuting with T.
Hurwitz spaces of Galois coverings of P1, whose Galois groups are Weyl groups
2006
Abstract We prove the irreducibility of the Hurwitz spaces which parametrize equivalence classes of Galois coverings of P 1 , whose Galois group is an arbitrary Weyl group, and the local monodromies are reflections. This generalizes a classical theorem due to Luroth, Clebsch and Hurwitz.
A restriction on the schur multiplier of nilpotent lie algebras
2011
An improvement of a bound of Yankosky (2003) is presented in this paper, thanks to a restriction which has been recently obtained by the authors on the Schur multiplier M(L) of a finite dimensional nilpotent Lie algebra L. It is also described the structure of all nilpotent Lie algebras such that the bound is attained. An important role is played by the presence of a derived subalgebra of maximal dimension. This allows precision on the size of M(L). Among other results, applications to the non-abelian tensor square L ⊗ L are illustrated.
Fixed point theorems for non-self mappings in symmetric spaces under φ-weak contractive conditions and an application to functional equations in dyna…
2014
In this paper, we prove some common fixed point theorems for two pairs of non-self weakly compatible mappings enjoying common limit range property, besides satisfying a generalized phi-weak contractive condition in symmetric spaces. We furnish some illustrative examples to highlight the realized improvements in our results over the corresponding relevant results of the existing literature. We extend our main result to four finite families of mappings in symmetric spaces using the notion of pairwise commuting mappings. Finally, we utilize our results to discuss the existence and uniqueness of solutions of certain system of functional equations arising in dynamic programming.
