Symmetry for positive critical points of Caffarelli–Kohn–Nirenberg inequalities

Abstract We consider positive critical points of Caffarelli–Kohn–Nirenberg inequalities and prove a Liouville type result which allows us to give a complete classification of the solutions in a certain range of parameters, providing a symmetry result for positive solutions. The governing operator is a weighted p -Laplace operator, which we consider for a general p ∈ ( 1 , d ) . For p = 2 , the symmetry breaking region for extremals of Caffarelli–Kohn–Nirenberg inequalities was completely characterized in Dolbeault et al. (2016). Our results extend this result to a general p and are optimal in some cases.

Uniqueness of positive solutions to some nonlinear Neumann problems

Abstract Using the moving plane method, we obtain a Liouville type theorem for nonnegative solutions of the Neumann problem { div ( y a ∇ u ( x , y ) ) = 0 , x ∈ R n , y > 0 , lim y → 0 + ⁡ y a u y ( x , y ) = − f ( u ( x , 0 ) ) , x ∈ R n , under general nonlinearity assumptions on the function f : R → R for any constant a ∈ ( − 1 , 1 ) .

Multiple solutions for a Neumann-type differential inclusion problem involving the p(.)-Laplacian

Using a multiple critical points theorem for locally Lipschitz continuous functionals, we establish the existence of at least three distinct solutions for a Neumann-type differential inclusion problem involving the $p(\cdot)$-Laplacian.

HOLOMORPHIC SUPERPOSITION OPERATORS BETWEEN BANACH FUNCTION SPACES

AbstractWe prove that for a large class of Banach function spaces continuity and holomorphy of superposition operators are equivalent and that bounded superposition operators are continuous. We also use techniques from infinite dimensional holomorphy to establish the boundedness of certain superposition operators. Finally, we apply our results to the study of superposition operators on weighted spaces of holomorphic functions and the$F(p, \alpha , \beta )$spaces of Zhao. Some independent properties on these spaces are also obtained.

Radó–Kneser–Choquet theorem

We present a new approach to the celebrated theorem of Rado–Kneser–Choquet (RKC) on univalence of planar harmonic mappings. The novelty lies in establishing a continuous path (isotopy) from the given harmonic map to a conformal one. Along this path the mappings retain positive Jacobian determinant by virtue of so-called Minimum Principle. These ideas extend to nonlinear uncoupled systems of partial differential equations, as in Iwaniec, Koski and Onninen [‘Isotropic p-harmonic systems in 2D, Jacobian estimates and univalent solutions’, Rev. AbstractIt is known that self-adjoint Hamiltonians with purely discrete eigenvalues can be written as (infinite) linear combination of mutually orthogonal projectors with eigenvalues as coefficients of the expansion. The projectors are defined by the eigenvectors of the Hamiltonians. In some recent papers, this expansion has been extended to the case in which these eigenvectors form a Riesz basis or, more recently, a ${\mathcal{D}}$ D -quasi basis (Bagarello and Bellomonte in J. Approximation properties of λ-Kantorovich operators

Sylow subgroups, exponents, and character values

If G G is a finite group, p p is a prime, and P P is a Sylow p p -subgroup of G G , we study how the exponent of the abelian group P / P ′ P/P’ is affected and how it affects the values of the complex characters of G G . This is related to Brauer’s Problem 12 12 . Exactly how this is done is one of the last unsolved consequences of the McKay–Galois conjecture.
