Interactive methods for multiobjective robust optimization
2018
Practical optimization problems usually have multiple objectives, and they also involve uncertainty from different sources. Various robustness concepts have been proposed to handle multiple objectives and the involved uncertainty simultaneously. However, the practical applicability of the proposed concepts in decision making has not been widely studied in the literature. Developing solution methods to support a decision maker to find a most preferred robust solution is an even more rarely studied topic. Thus, we focus on two goals in this thesis including 1) analyzing the practical applicability of different robustness concepts in decision making and 2) developing interactive methods for sup…
Työvuorosuunnittelujärjestelmän käyttöönottoon vaikuttaminen ja parametrien tunnistaminen
2016
Työvuorosuunnittelujärjestelmän käyttöönotto yrityksessä vaikuttaa merkittävästi työntekijöihin. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on selvittää, kuinka työvuorosuunnittelujärjestelmän käyttöönottoon voidaan vaikuttaa, mitä rajoitteita se tarvitsee toimiakseen sekä kuinka työvuorosuunnittelujärjestelmän käyttöönotto vaikuttaa organisaatioon. Teoriaosuudessa esitellään kirjallisuutta tietojärjestelmän käyttöönottoprosessista ja siihen liittyvistä vaiheista. Tarkoituksena on selvittää työvuorosuunnittelujärjestelmän erityispiirteitä ja huomioida, kuinka niihin voidaan varautua käyttöönotossa. Käyttöönoton vaikutusta organisaatioon käsitellään myös kirjallisuuden kautta. Tutkielman toisessa teoriakappa…
Il settore delle produzioni zootecniche biologiche in Sicilia
2009
The study shows the results obtained in Sicily in the sphere of the activities carried out within a larger national research3, and identifies key strengths and weaknesses of the sector, both in the production stage and in the upstream segments of processing and marketing. As for the structural survey on manufacturing firms, the research turned both to a direct survey concerning some case studies which were tested for a two-year period, and to the analysis of the technical-financial elements derived from the RICA-INEA Database. On the other hand, for what concerns the steps following the production, the investigation looked at 12 firms dealing, also or exclusively, with the marketing of orga…
Intensified job demands and job performance : does SOC strategy use make a difference?
2020
We examined intensified job demands (IJDs) and selecting-optimizing-compensating (SOC) strategies as predictors of job performance (task performance, organizational citizenship behavior). We also investigated SOC strategy use as a moderator in the linkages between IJDs and performance. We sampled three disparate occupational groups (N=4,582). We found that certain dimensions of IJDs showed significant associations with the indicators of job performance but there were also scale-based variations in these linkages, depending on the type of performance and on the sub-scale of IJDs. Specifically, some dimensions of IJDs (e.g., work intensification) related to poorer task performance whereas som…
How Organizational Resources and Managerial Features Affect Business Performance: An Analysis in the Greek Wine Industry
2023
Despite the growing interest of the wine industry in quality and environmental certifications and the influence of these standards on positioning in international markets, scholarly research has paid proportionally limited attention to the link between winery export intensity and the adoption of internationally recognized standards. This study aims to analyze which factors make an organizational model performant, and to verify the impact of the adoption of third-party certifications on the export performance by using the resource-based view (RBV) theory as a theoretical lens. Findings show that younger wineries are more oriented towards the adoption of voluntary quality and environmental ce…
Multi-marginal entropy-transport with repulsive cost
2020
In this paper we study theoretical properties of the entropy-transport functional with repulsive cost functions. We provide sufficient conditions for the existence of a minimizer in a class of metric spaces and prove the $\Gamma$-convergence of the entropy-transport functional to a multi-marginal optimal transport problem with a repulsive cost. We also prove the entropy-regularized version of the Kantorovich duality.

On some partial data Calderón type problems with mixed boundary conditions
2021
In this article we consider the simultaneous recovery of bulk and boundary potentials in (degenerate) elliptic equations modelling (degenerate) conducting media with inaccessible boundaries. This connects local and nonlocal Calderón type problems. We prove two main results on these type of problems: On the one hand, we derive simultaneous bulk and boundary Runge approximation results. Building on these, we deduce uniqueness for localized bulk and boundary potentials. On the other hand, we construct a family of CGO solutions associated with the corresponding equations. These allow us to deduce uniqueness results for arbitrary bounded, not necessarily localized bulk and boundary potentials. T…

Static instability analysis of an elastic band travelling in the gravitational field
2011
Static instability analysis is performed for an axially moving elastic band, which is travelling at a constant velocity in a uniform gravitational field between two supports. The buckling of the band is investigated with the help of admitting small transverse deflections. The model of a thin elastic beam (panel) subjected to bending, centrifugal forces and nonhomogeneous tension (including a gravitational term) is used. Buckling analysis and estimation of the critical velocities of elastic instability are based on variational principles and variational inequalities. As a result, explicit formulas for upper and lower limits for critical velocities are found. It is shown analytically that a c…
