Ethylene/1-olefin copolymerization behaviour of vanadium and titanium complexes bearing salen-type ligand

2013

Ethylene/1-olefin copolymerization using vanadium and titanium complexes bearing tetradentate [O,N,N,O]-type ligand and EtAlCl2 or MAO as a cocatalyst is carried out. In the presence of the vanadium complex activated with EtAlCl2 is observed (a) negative “comonomer effect”, (b) high comonomer incorporation and narrow chemical composition distribution (CCD), (c) unexpected copolymer microstructure, and (d) increased molecular weight of copolymers when compared with the homopolymer. In contrast, titanium catalyst gives copolymers with lower 1-olefin content and broad CCD. Supported complexes show higher activity, lower 1-olefins incorporation and give copolymers with ultra high molecular weig…

Chiral bis(amino alcohol)oxalamides as ligands for asymmetric catalysis. Ti(IV) catalyzed enantioselective addition of diethylzinc to aldehydes

2005

Abstract Several chiral bis(aminoalcohol)oxalamides with C 2 -symmetry have been prepared and used as ligands for the enantioselective addition of diethylzinc to aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes. The reaction proceeds in the presence of titanium isopropoxide to give the corresponding ( S )-alcohols with ee up to 78%. In the absence of Ti(IV), the alcohols with the opposite configuration are obtained.

Metallorganic routes to nanoscale iron and titanium oxide particles encapsulated in mesoporous alumina: formation, physical properties, and chemical …

2000

Iron and titanium oxide nanoparticles have been synthesized in parallel mesopores of alumina by a novel organometallic "chimie douce" approach that uses bis(toluene)iron(0) (1) and bis(toluene)titanium(0) (2) as precursors. These complexes are molecular sources of iron and titanium in a zerovalent atomic state. In the case of 1, core shell iron/iron oxide particles with a strong magnetic coupling between both components, as revealed by magnetic measurements, are formed. Mossbauer data reveal superparamagnetic particle behavior with a distinct particle size distribution that confirms the magnetic measurements. The dependence of the Mossbauer spectra on temperature and particle size is explai…

The treatment of scaphoid non-unions with partial and total scaphoid in titanium custom-made 3D-printed prostheses and reconstruction of scapholunate…

2021

ABSTRACTThe treatment of sequelae of scaphoid fractures is still one of the unsolved problems of hand surgery. Between January 2019 and July 2020 in the Hand Surgery Department of San Paolo’s Hospital in Savona (Italy) 9 partial scaphoid in titanium custom-made 3D-printed prosthesis have performed in 9 patients (all men) with an average age of 27.5 years (minimum 18-maximum 37 years). The aim of the study is to evaluate over time the clinical-functional and radiographic results of the wrists treated with partial and total scaphoid titanium custom-made 3D-printed prostheses and reconstruction of SLIL.

Evaluation of Cyclic Fatigue of Hyflex EDM, Twisted Files, and ProTaper Gold Manufactured with Different Processes: An In Vitro Study.

2021

Introduction. The main aims of root canal instrumentation are to provide an environment that will lead to healing and to provide a root canal shape that is comfortable to clean and seal. When working with rotary endodontic instruments, the most significant concerns are that the instrument might fracture in the root canal, thus affecting the treatment outcome. Hence, it is of immense importance to know which file systems have more cyclic fatigue resistance. Methodology. This study evaluated the effect of the curved segment length of the artificial canal (the arch), and the number of cycles necessary in fracture of Hyflex EDM, Twisted files, and ProTaper Gold were recorded. Sixty NiTi rotary …

Mechanical properties of the NiTi Memoria Leaf Spring Activated Expander (NiTi MLSAE) for maxillary transverse discrepancy correction: An in-vitro st…

2020

Background To determine the mechanical properties of the NiTi Memoria® Leaf Spring Activated Expander (NiTi MLSAE) in two forms, unaltered (unbent) and altered (bent) to mimic clinical use. Material and Methods This in-vitro pilot study was conducted using eight NiTi MLSAE expanders (American Tooth Industries, Oxnard, California) representing four force magnitudes: 10mm 500g, 10mm 900g, 6mm 450g and 6mm 900g models. Two experiments were performed: the first tested the expanders in their unbent form and the second tested them after they were bent by one experienced technician. All expanders were adapted to a standard three dimensional printed maxillary study model. A Dillion Quantrol 500N (1…

Microstructure alterations of rotary files after multiple simulated operative procedures.

2009

Aim: To assess morphological alterations of ProTaper rotary NiTi files before and after continuous use by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Study Design: 30 root canals were chosen with an angle between 15 and 30º. Before starting to prepare the canals the files were observed microscopically using a scanning electronic microscope. The ProTaper sequence recommended by the manufacturer was used, with NaOCl as irrigant. The instruments were sterilised after every three canals were shaped. The instruments were observed with the same microscope after shaping each canal, until 30 root canals were shaped. The criteria used for checking the instruments were: blunt cutting edges, disruption of cut…

Analysis of stress distribution in ceramic and titanium implants in alveolar sockets of the anterior region of the maxilla

2019

Background In the routine of dentistry, knowing the biomechanical properties of implant systems and their inherent stress distribution under force loading is an essential step to predict structural damage and biological responses. This study aimed to investigate stress distribution in zirconia and titanium implants and their biomechanical response in alveolar sockets of the anterior region of the maxilla through tridimensional finite element analysis. Material and Methods From computed tomography scans of a reference patient, three models of the maxillary dental arch were designed with Rhinoceros 5.0 software (McNeel Europe™, Barcelona, Spain). In each model, a dental implant replaced the m…

Immediate Loading in Atrophic Jaws: Zygomatic Implants

2019

The zygomatic fixture is an extended length (35–55 mm) titanium implant, placed into the zygomatic and maxillary alveolar bone. It was designed for situations where atrophy of the posterior maxilla complicates or prevents the placing of conventional implants. The use of zygomatic implants avoids the need for bone grafting, shortens treatment times, and reduces morbidity. They have also been used in patients with maxillectomies resulting from tumors or diseases associated with atrophic conditions of the maxilla.

The accuracy of the Raypex5 electronic apex locator using stainless-steel hand K-file versus nickel-titanium rotary Mtwo file

2009

Objectives: Today many clinicians use both stainless-steel hand K-files and nickel- titanium rotary files during endodontic treatment. It is of great importance for the clinician to have confidence in the accuracy of an apex locator even if these files were used interchangeably. The purpose of this in-vitro study was to evaluate the accuracy of the Raypex5 electronic apex locator using stainless-steel hand K-file versus nickel-titanium rotary Mtwo file. Study design: Twenty straight and single canals of maxillary central teeth were used. Access cavities were prepared; actual working length were determined and compared with electronic working length obtained by means of apex locator Raypex5 …
