The operation of naval vessels involves watchkeeping 24 h per day, which is globally carried out by a variety of different watch systems. In this study, the rotating 4:4 and fixed 4:4/6:6 two-section watch systems were compared in terms of sleepiness, fatigue, and stress responses. The data collection took place on a Finnish Defence Forces' (FDF) Navy missile patrol boat with 15 crew members serving as study participants. The data collection periods lasted two separate weeks (7 days, 6 nights) with the different watch systems. Darba nosaukums ir “Rīgas iedzīvotāju viedoklis par toleranci pret LGBT”. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir noskaidrot Rīgas iedzīvotāju viedokli par toleranci pret LGBT. Darbā tika izvirzītas divas hipotēzes: 1) Rīgas iedzīvotāji, kuriem ir augstāks zināšanu līmenis par LGBT, ir tolerantāki pret kopienu; 2) Rīgas iedzīvotāji, kuru paziņu lokā ir vairāk LGBT personas, ir tolerantāki. Rīgas iedzīvotāju viedoklis par toleranci pret LGBT tika analizēts, izmantojot interneta aptaujā iegūtos datus (n = 243). Global warming effects in temperate and polar regions include higher average temperatures and a decrease in snow cover, which together lead to an increase in the number of freeze–thaw cycles (FTC). These changes could affect the fitness of both terrestrial and aquatic species. In this study, we tested how tardigrades, ubiquitous microscopic invertebrates, face FTC. The decline of endangered freshwater pearl mussel (FPM, Margaritifera margaritifera) has been attributed to juvenile mortality caused by low concentrations of dissolved oxygen in the stream substrate resulting from fine sediments (siltation) that impede water exchange in the interstitial microhabitat of juveniles. Human–elephant conflict (HEC) is a common problem for rural populations in sub-Saharan Africa. Recent studies have shown that willingness to tolerate wildlife is largely a function of perceived risks and benefits, but most technical assessments are limited to the immediate cause of the conflict and neglect the broader socioeconomic and political contexts.
