Latvijas Universitātes Muzeja Botānikas un mikoloģijas kolekcijās glabājas unikāls eksponāts – sēņu mulāža, kas piederējusi Baltijas dabaspētniekam F. E. Štollam (1874 – 1966) un tikusi izmantota izglītības procesā. Iespējams, ka tā ir vienīgā Latvijā saglabājusies vēsturiskā sēņu mulāža.

Ferdinanda Erdmaņa Štolla kāpu tintenes akvareļi

1925. gada jūnijā Baltijas dabaspētnieks Ferdinads Erdmanis Štolls (1874 – 1966) Garciema smilšu kāpās atklāja jaunu sēņu sugu, kam tika dots nosaukums Coprinus dunarum F. E. Stoll, latviski – kāpu tintene. Zinātnieks sēnes fiksēja un detalizēti aprakstīja. Atraduma fotouzņēmumi un akvareļi ir iekļauti viņa vairāk kā 1000 vienību lielajā F. E. Štolla sēņu attēlu kolekcijā, kuru pamatā veido F. E. Štolla zīmētie akvareļi, kas glabājas Latvijas Universitātes muzeja Botānikas un mikoloģijas kolekcijās.

Predictive value of p53, Ki67 and TLR5 in neoplastic progression of Barrett’s esophagus: a matched case–control study

Abstract Barrett’s esophagus progresses to high-grade dysplasia or cancer along the well-established metaplasia-dysplasia-adenocarcinoma sequence. The aim of this study was to evaluate the value of p53, Ki67, and toll-like receptor 5 (TLR5) in prediction of malignant progression of Barrett’s metaplasia and low-grade dysplasia. This was a retrospective matched case–control study based on Northern and Central Finland population. Patients diagnosed with esophageal high-grade dysplasia or adenocarcinoma were included. Structural Parameters under Partial Least Squares and Covariance-Based Structural Equation Modeling : A Comment on Yuan and Deng (2021)

In their article, Yuan and Deng argue that a structural parameter under partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) is zero if and only if the same structural parameter is zero under covariance-based structural equation modeling (CB-SEM). Yuan and Deng then conclude that statistical tests on individual structural parameters assessing the null hypothesis of no effect can achieve the same purpose in CB-SEM and PLS-SEM. Alkoholista riippumaton rasvamaksa (NAFLD) on maailman yleisin maksasairaus ja saattaa johtaa kirroosin tai maksasyövän kehittymiseen. Viimeaikaisissa tutkimuksissa suolistosta peräisin olevin bakteerimolekyylien, kuten flagelliinin (FLG) ja lipopolysakkaridien (LPS), rooli rasvamaksan kehittymisessä on tunnistettu. Nämä molekyylit saattavat vaikuttaa maksaan välillisesti rasvakudoksen kautta toll-like reseptorien (TLR) signaalireittejä aktivoiden. Posidonia oceanica is an endemic Mediterranean seagrass that forms wide and dense meadows from the surface up to about 40 m depth. This species can develop a biogenic structure called matte, a typical terraced formation built up by itself, consisting of intertwined rhizomes, roots and sediment, which may allow shoots to reach the sea surface forming reefs (récif barrière), considered natural monuments.
