A prospective study of case series of patients who have undergone major surgical treatment was undertaken. Patients who suffered SSI were compared with controls (nested case-control design). Centers for Disease Control and Prevention definitions were followed and SSI established. Overall costs and indirect related morbidity/mortality costs were estimated. Tertiary Hyperparathyroidism (HPT) is an uncommon condition that affects patients with secondary HPT after a successful kidney transplant. Bone alterations are the main consequences of this endocrine condition, including the development of an osteolytic lesion called brown tumour. This paper reports an unusual case of multiple brown tumours located in the maxilla and mandible in a 58-year-old renal transplant recipient, with tertiary HPT. To examine the effect of dynamic resistance exercise on the response patterns of lymphokines, 10 strength-trained men (21.7 +- 0.6 y) performed 2 resistance exercise protocols, high force (HF) and high power (HP), of equal total work (HF 5 33.0 +- 2.5 kJ; HP 5 33.3 +- 2.7 kJ) in a randomized order separated by 1 week. This study aimed to analyse performance in the roundhouse kick to the head according to execution distance between and within Olympic weight categories. The participants were 36 male athletes divided into three categories: featherweight (n = 10), welterweight (n = 15) and heavyweight (n = 11). Introduction: A modified cryopreservation technique for human parathyroid tissue was compared with the standard method using a programmed freezer. Methods: Total parathyroidectomy was performed in three groups of 6-week-old Rowett nude rats. Group I (control) underwent no transplantation of parathyroid tissue (n=9). Abstract Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate the athlete’s perception of stress and recovery states following a 24 h ultra-marathon race. Design and method Psychological states were assessed in 14 male subjects before as well as 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 21, and 30 days after the race.
